K20 Turbo Del Sol build!! K&V Fab
Whats up H-T... I've been a member on for a while but haven't really posted all that much in the past but i wanted to start a build thread to share my new setup for 2012... i bought my Del Sol back in June of '09 100% bone stock with the intent to lower it get some rims and drive with few little mods, but no swap... i drove it for a year like that and fell in love with the car and became very attached to it so when the single cam took a **** i decided it was time to upgrade!! in November 2010 i started to do and h22 swap and as it progressed i got the bright idea to throw some boost at it and did so.. the car made 300whp on 9 psi and i drove it like that from March 2011 until October 2011 when out of no where the cylinder 2 dropped 100psi of compression. i was just going to do a piston and rod set up but a friend of mine convinced me to sell it all and begin a k20 swap but after having boost in my life i couldn't go without it so its going be boosted but this time no off the shelf kit!! with all that said onto the pics!!
i dont have a stock pic but this is after i lowered it
w/ rims and new headlights
bye bye single slam
fresh paint in the bay
h22 installed
w/ boost
this is what it looked like about 3 weeks before the motor went
motor out ready for the k
k in for mock up
beginning to fab the turbo manifold
manifold all tacked ready to be welded
on the car to make the downpipe
while the manifold was off getting welded i decided to do some wiring
manifold all finished welding w/ waste gates
back on the car for more test fitting
then it was time for an intercooler custom same side 2x backdoor
with the ic done charge pipes were next
bumper test fit with the intercooler
and thats where it is currently about to come apart for paint... big thanks to Kevin Maecha and Victor Pena from K&V Fab for all the time spent on fabrication!! progress from this point should be fairly quick so stay tuned for more updates!!

I always had a soft spot for the del sols. I woulda built mine like that as well, looking good and can't wait to see the end results.

Some updates on the car... i took the car back from the shop to my buddys house to do the body work on the bay and to do final assembly... heres where im at so far...
after sanding for days i decided to throw some bed liner on the bay i know its not for eveyone but i love it and it is easy to maintain
motor finally in the car!!

you know that bedliner is gonna melt off right? the firewall by the mani and the shock tower
plus it looks like ***, and how is it any easier to take care of then a couple coats of single stage paint, just hose it off

I'm not a hater at all, just going to state my opinion.
The bedliner looks horrible.... If you like it though and you want function>fashion, then who cares though.
The rest of what you've done looks promising though. Good work on the manifold.

idk why you even shaved the bay then to just throw some hillbilly bed liner on it. you cant even see the shave job. might as well saved you some time and left the bay as is and then put the liner on.
i was expecting to see a nice build when i seen k20 with a turbo. seen the manifold i was kinda happy.. wasnt too sure on the placement of the turbo seeing the issues with how close the DP is to the firewall.
but any turbo k in swapped car is a tight fit i would know. i ran a 4" dp on my setup.
you can prolly make the car turn out nice just dont rhino line anything else.
