It's a great little unit, should be making about 300whp @ 9psi. Retuning this season to see what running 16-17psi will yield.

Emilio, your build thread is just absolutely amazing. You've come a long way, and I enjoyed reading about it. Your ek is definitely one of my top favorites, and it's inspired me to keep building my Integra. Can't wait to see more man.

Thanks a lot man! Totally forgot to continue updating this thread on here as well. I'll be doing that later, thanks for the kind words dude. Before this build I followed lots of builds that inspired me and I wanted to be able to create something like that for others. Lots of new stuff coming for this season.... :-)

^ Thanks man!

As mentioned, forgot to update this thread with some winter build action.

Pa-POW we are back into this thread for some winter build fun as per usual. Exciting changes for next season coming, and an overall refresh of the look in the bay! Whoop whoop, stay tuned......

After some help from friends the motor and front end was completely apart in a matter of a couple hours. This car is such a ****, it's great to work on everything!

Empty heart...

That would explain the major slippage at the track this year....time for new clutch

The fully built b16 up on the rotisserie for the winter re-fresh. Likely won't play around with any internals as the motor ran great last year, most changes in this department will be cosmetic up until the re-tune for more boost!

Recent aquisition of some minty Takata MPH belts for more track time next season!

These are getting a bit of an exciting new look...stay tuned on that.

Two years ago when I bought this thing from a guy in California it was an awesome thing to see...now it's reached a sad point in it's life so it's time for a change...

That's what it's all about right there. A++ attitude.
Also since I'm local to you, can't wait to bother you for a photo shoot once my car is painted.

In the mean time, can't wait for updates on your build.

Haha do it up man, looking forward to shooting as much automotive content as I can this season. Unfortunately buying a house and starting real life has me shooting everything under the sun that brings in income. I would love to get back to my photographic roots.

Thanks again for the kind words dude!

Update Time....

I'll save some of the painstaking details but basically I spent a few days with the help of friends prepping and scuffing the white empty engine bay that was chipped and stained with some oil and different crap from the previous season. In previous posts I mentioned that I was thinking of just doing the areas of the bay again that had been damaged but after much deliberation I realized the only way I would be happy would be with a full repaint so it was all uniform. I likely could have gotten away with not re-painting this season but after the motor being pulled and re-installed twice since the fresh coat of paint when the car went white there has been some damage so being picky as I am I couldn't help myself....this winter was a season for some upgrades, but mainly polishing anything that was left unpolished, tie up any loose ends of tasks that I always kind of just look at and think "yeh one day I'll address that" and actually get them done.

Skipping all of the prep stages for photos here we are at the first coat of white

I decided instead of going full bore and spraying with a gun in my garage that I would just go to Napa and have my local paint mixers make me some matching Taffetta white . These are the same guys that mixed the base for the actual cars colour so I felt like it would be easiest to get a match from them. The cans worked amazing....although they were not cheap. At 36$ per can it's almost the same as what you would pay for actual paint, technically more when looking at larger quantities.

Laid down the second heavy coat of 2k white from the cans, let it bake for a day with a propan heater on it, masked off the bottom half the next day and re-sprayed the sub frame for maximum freshness!

While the paint was drying though got to work on prepping the engine/trans setup with jR from the boards (big thanks to this guy for all the help the last few days! Lot's of pics this season coming of his refreshed sick blue coupe build ;-) ) Here are some photos of all the beautiful new Bolt Boys hardware and washers being installed. There almost is not a single bolt in the entire bay and on the motor that has not been replaced with this stuff now, makes from easy installation and removal of parts and looks badass, no rust!

Downstar hardware and cam seal installed. Don't mind the haggard paint on the cam cap, will be re-done....and that horrible temporary VC while the new one comes back from Cali still.....

Josh cleaning and removing the old mating surface from the re-usable flywheel I have run for quite some time now, great product!

Brand new ACT 6 puck sprung clutch disc :-) Didn't get a shot of the pressure plate but I opted for the Heavy duty pressure plate this season for significantly more clamping force on the clutch. I think I was losing a lot of power transfer last year due to clutch so we'll see how this goes...glad I have been going to the gym, my legs will hate me.

All mated up with a glimpse at the new baffled Moroso pan :-)

After all that fun, masked the dried second coat of white and resprayed the subframe for maximum freshness. You can start seeing parts getting slowly bolted in here and there prepping for the inevitable motor drop :-)

That was a little bit difficult to understand but I am going to make an attempt at cracking the code. I'm assuming what you meant to say is that you have had problems with ACT clutches in the past because the heart (I'm assuming you mean the friction disc) is too "thin" and bites harder and wears quicker then OEM.

Couple of things, one is that I really take everyone's opinions on clutches with a grain of salt. I did tons of research online and what is simple enough to deduce is that no two people had the same experience with any one given specific clutch setup, reason being is so much about a clutches life is dictated by its break in period. If you incorrectly break in a clutch and create an uneven mating surface with your flywheel, you could rip through a brand new clutch in a month with enough power from a boosted setup. The reality is the clutch won't be totally worn, just the one uneven spot will be cooked and you'll likely have a hot spot on your flywheel.

To address your original statement that the ACT clutch will wear quicker then stock...well that's the game we play. Add more power, add more supporting mods, lose some longevity to the parts. You can't expect to have a tranny use a part to harness 300-400whp every time you make a pull and have it last longer then a stock clutch. the reality is also a stock clutch in my setup would have never grabbed to begin with.

Hope that addressed your random statement haha.

Before motor went in today jR and I did some last minute final checks on things and cleaned up my oil feed setup compared to last year. Last year it swung all the way around the passenger side and kind of just floated around. This year it's properly fixed onto the alternator bracket and the front of the block which looks much cleaner and will let me cut some of the length off the feed line itself. Also installed the new AEM PSIG oil pressure sensor to make my AEM multi guage read a dedicated oil pressure number at all times, also one of the only small oil leaks in the car last year was from the old stock sensor nipple.

Super happy to be at this point so quickly, huge thanks again to jR the last few days has been some wrenching!

You only know you've gotten **** done when the garage looks like this afterwards...

This is how she sits....basically only have a few small things to get done in the next week, other than that basically I am waiting on 3 or 4 critical final parts to get this thing started. More updates soon......

Thanks for the kind words guys, always motivates to keep this build moving.

Looks great.

Ever thinking about filling some of the holes in the bay? at least a partial shave. I know its a lot of work, I did it way back in the day.

Actually man you would be surprised how many holes have already been filled around the bay. It wasn't the amount of work (considering the hours and hours of tedious work that's been put it) but more that Im not a fan of the full "shave" look on a honda. Also if your referring to the front rad support don't forget that I have the smooth carbon plate that covers all of those holes, so I didn't bother filling them.
