ej1 build, got the Car for free, budget build on its way!
Its a long story, but I did manage to get the car for free!
Its a 1994 civic ex ej1. Interior was rotten nasty/windows opened all the time apparently..
It had an eBay turbo hackjob on it. Long story short I found the last guy that had it nice..he is pleased yet dissapointed in its neglect..
The paint is straight fast and furious style (not my forte) but it will stay for the surprise factor.
The fenders/doors/rear quarters were shaved, but they were done correctly with metal work.
I got the story: "engines built, its fast" ...OK buddy..BUT to my surprise he Was kinda correct..
Since I've gained ownership I have torn the shell down to bare metal and worked hard lol.
Bay received a shave, headlight harnesses are being tucked currently/same with brake lines. Lots to go.
I have fixed every wire hack in it..some genious used speaker wire for the headlights/radio -_- power windows and locks did not work (wiring nightmare)
So I converted the harness down to CX status.
The goal: a quick summer toy on a 1500$ budget.
To date: I overhauled the engine: its a d16z6
Parts: eagle rods/ARP 2000 rod studs
8:5-1 compression je pistons (new rings)
New main/rod bearings and thrust washers (OEM Honda)
Crank was worked .20 over
Cylinder head is stock
ARP headstuds
OEM headgasket
Shimmed oil pump/chamfered block for rods
Turbo setup: 750cc rc injectors
Tial 50mm b.o.v.
Tial 38mm wastegate (couple different springs)/open dump
50ar 50trim/48 Garrett t3 turbo
Cast eBay manifold for now
Y8 intake manifold
Russell inline fuel filter (for tuck/looks)
3" bumper exit downpipe being made now..
2.5" ic piping
Big fmic
Dual core radiator
Ecu is just a po6 on crome gold with a basemap for start up prior to tailoring to a roller..
Interior is going to be black CX int. Converted to manual crank doors. Lexan rear quarters and rear glass (I have a connect with a lexan distributor 150$ to cut to size...)
No carpet no radio/sound deadning on pans or under dash, abs removed, ac/heat/cruise control gone. Windshield washer fluid reservoir gone, pwr windows locks gone. Keeping sunroof.
Corbeau a4 seats.
I do have Simpson 5 points/thinking of caging when I have the power/off the street/different swap.
Tire: plain Jain acura legend rims on nitto not 55s 225/55/14 I think I forget?
Lots going on. Engine is done, bay almost there... Brakes, one side of the headlight harness and battery power is what I have to finish before dropping back in.
New ball joints/wheel beatings up front too
Don't ask how but I've traded a lot and scoured junk yards/sold parts.. I'm in 682.79$ into the Car and its current setup!!
When i got it for free on a trade i spent 200 on the car i traded!
Aftet i tore it down and pulled it down to bare metal prior to the shave/metal work..
The wicked paint job lol
After metal work comes putty snd sanding!!! Used everlast rage just fyi.. Too much time tbh
Bay needs one more coat but its shaved.. Never done body work in my life..good learning curve for me..im satisfied for my first one! And my first time painting with a gun
All freshened up, needs a new oil feed/drain line & pan but almost there
Polished valve cover
Rod bearings etc all within spec after plastigauging old setup/new equipment.
Seats and some random parts waiting to get installed
Almost done with the chassis witing mess! Soon it shall be all nice and neat
more to come in the future as I continue to build this car rather than drink at the bar

^thanks! Lots of spare time hunting for parts, reading threads and DIY has gotten me where I am..
Parts work coming up: brake line tuck/install battery/fuse block harness, finish up passenger side headlight harness
Anyone ever use this on a brake tuck? Picked it up at my local napa.. Its supposed to never kink and be hand bendable...I'll find out today how nice it flares compared to standard 25' foot 3/16 rolls..

Thanks, coming along. I'm pushing myself for a may start up, once it happens time for an appointment with a tuner. Decent #s or she blows I'll be proud of myself to achieve budget and time table since it's somewhat a new learning experience for me!
Some progress..
Inching towards being able to plug a battery in and go live.. Test electrical and proceed to the next step
And as we speak

Dealing with this nightmare at the moment. The previous owner hacked the body harness pretty good. One more nest to clean up and then I'll test everything
Slowly but surely I de-pinned most everything that didn't work or had nasty cut wire with split offs -_- going as bare bones as it gets except the sunroof.
Happy st. Patrick's day! Cruising the highlife

Bbarbulo I was wondering what they came off of!! They're wrapped with nitto nt55s pretty sure 215/55/14s that have seen 2 passes and 40 street miles paid 100 for the pair with the rims awhile back!
Thank you for the support all!
I managed to get enough sorted to hook up the battery. I have tails, headlights turns without the dash on, and when I turn the key over I get a click at the relay!
So I'm happy since I lost ignition power and had a spark issue within the distributor, so all should be fixed with s new distributor and working ignition switch!
Prior to me getting into the entire body harness it was a nightmare with splices, dead wire and non working accessories..
Since then I have trimmed out what I don't need/didn't work to keep it simple since the car won't be a daily driver..
I have managed to nab a stock uncut ej1 body harness for sakes of having or needing it if I want to ever sell the car
I have power again!
I used clear hard plastic toilet plumbing pioe to cover my battery power wire since I tucked in through the fender well and into the door passage on passenger side
