Icon6 1998 Honda Civic Dx -From Ricey to Right-

Okay so first of all this is my first build thread I am going to try to make it easy to read I appreciate all comments, and opinions, tell me what you think. I will try to put as many images up as possible, and I will update it everytime I get something done. Thank you for visiting my build thread!

About the car:

The car is a 1998 Honda Civic Dx, it has 94k miles and counting! This car was as riced as you can get, when I bought it, it was equipped with a replica toyota supra spoiler, 17 inch MB Motorsport rims, Chrome Housing Euro tail-lights, white underglow, and a wide body kit. The body kit was molded with polyurethane which cracked due to the body's shop ineligibilty to mix it right :D

Here is the car the night I got it not the best pic, but the only one I have of it with all the original parts on it.

Early Modifications:

Spoiler:

First of all I knew the almost foot tall spoiler had to go, I owned the car for two days before I ripped it off, and sold it to some guy for 150$ .

Tail-lights:

I was sick and tired of the euro taillights, so I traded them for some black housings, and finally traded them for some 2000 civic tail-lights. Two trades later and I am not in the hole any money on tail-lights.

Once again, not the best pic but a good one of the first tail-lights, and as you see the spoiler is gone.

Second trade, black housing tail-lights

Finally 2000 honda civic tail-lights, along way from chrome euros!

Rims:

I had to get rid of the 17's I sold those for 275$ scraped up some extra cash, and bought my 2000 front end conversion!! I recently bought some 15's from a friend since it is my daily, and it needed some shoes!

I plan on either getting some rota gt-3s, or some volks, whatever I choose once the body is done, rims and tires are a must!!

Streetglow underglow:

Ripped off, and sold for 75$

Current Modifications:
I have been quit busy on the project, I started to work on getting the neon off when two buddy's off mine decided to stop by, next thing you know, were in my girlfriends garage, sanding, and prying the wide body kit off. We worked on the body until 2 o' clock in the morning, then went and hit up taco bell

With the body kit off, and it almost restored, back down, We started to work on the 2000 front end conversion!

Purchased Parts:

2000 honda civic oem hood

2000 honda civic oem fenders

2000 honda civic oem front bumper

1998 honda civic oem rear bumper

Needed Parts:

I still need to pick up my type-r grille, and head-lights to finally complete my 2000 front end conversion!
Then its on to the type-r lip, and some oem fogs.

So far you have seen some small improvements, I have made.
Here are the last pictures, I took with the wide body kit installed , after them you can check out the removal of the body kit, and you can see the installation of the 2000 front end, and from there, you will ust have to stay tuned!

Here are some pics that I think will give you a feel for what kind of body work we are looking at these will serve as my before images. Whenever i get all the bodywork done and the car primered I will take some shots in the same places, and angles, to let you see the difference!!

Repping Huntsville Alabama just some more shots, before we took off the wide body kit.

So know that I have shown you my canvas let me show you some art, like I mentioned earlier, two of my good buddy's came over and helped with the removal of the wide body kit. So thanks guys! I am not going to go into huge detailed captions at every picture, but let me tell you this, mid-june 80 something degrees, in a closed off garage, what little ventilation we had was 2 open windows. I did not want to **** of the neighbors working at 2 o'clock in the morning!! We seriously slaved with flat head screw drivers and hammers, cracking the seals on the wide-body kit, and prying it off. I was kind of scared of what was underneath, I was thinking everything was going to have to be replaced, and welded yada-yada-yada! With the wide-body kit off we only found some dents in the drivers side quarter panel, and some little rust! I also found out the previous owner replaced the driver side door!

Here are some pictures of the body work process!!

Taking off the front end, fenders removed!

Whole front end off!

After the front end was removed, we stripped off the wide-body side skirts!

Driver side wide-body panels removed, the door was previously replaced and some damage on the quarter panel.

If you look at the quarter panel, near the side molding by the door there is the damage!

A better picture off the damage, like 5 small dents, and some metal, that was tack welded to support the wide-body, nothing a grinder cannot fix

Passenger side quarter panel, perfect condition just dirty, oh and look at the ground, see the dirt! That came out the bottom of the wide boy kit!

New 2000 fender, New door, and damaged quarter panel

I have already installed the back bumper and almost the whole front end, I will pull the car down to the street, and get some better pictures of the body work, and the new 2000 front end conversion!!

Well it was my first car, and I knew it needed work, I could not see under the body kit when I bought it, So I thought I was in the favor, My parents payed 3,000 cash for it as a gift for turning 16, it was alot for what I was getting but i did not inspect it good enough, that was my fault. But I dont regret buying it at all

That's the proper attitude to have. What's the point of having a project, if you aren't going to learn anything?

Best of luck playing Jesus on this build. Be that poor Honda's savior.

Thanks for the support, as far as plans paint wise, whenever I get the body work done, I want to spray it with black primer, while I give it a much needed suspension upgrade. I am a senior and when school starts back I am taking some collision repair classes, at our tech school. So I will probably spray it myself.

As far as final color, I have not decided yet?

Either a dark red, metallic silver (dark like gunmetal) , or white??

Any opinions on final color?

Only 94 miles on that car. Must be lucky to drive that because it rare to get a low milage like that here on civic 98.
