play in the oil pump gear?
Tossing together a swap for my daily driver I noticed the oil pump gear (part on the inside of the pump where it slips over the crank) has a tiny bit of side to side play but none in and out of the front and back of the pump. It only has 12k miles oem obd2. Is this normal and the play goes away when its flowing oil or should I be concerned

thank you for the reassurance. i'm in the process of installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge so i can monitor it for a while just in case..

Re: play in the oil pump gear?
well i made a ghetto bracket for an oil pressure gauge and did a "temporary" install on it, maybe keep it in for a few weeks. im likely to fire the thing up in a few hours and see what it looks like. should be fun to daily through the winter, high comp jdm b20 with the laundry list of bolt ons and s4c trans/gsr5th.

Re: play in the oil pump gear?
got it running put a mile or 2 on it real quick. def need an alignment, i had the whole subframe etc down i replaced all the lines that run under the car too one of my brake lines was weeping it was only a matter of time.
oil pressure is good, 75 at cold start, 30 when warm idling@900rpm. this is with conventional castrol 5w-30
