Default Oil Pumps

Just a quick question how often to oil pumps go out? The most i heard is "man, i have NEVER replaced a oil pump on a honda...they ****** last forever" anyone else

The only time I have had to replace a oil pump is when the oil pump gear breaks. Only happened 2 time and they were on high horse power turbo motors. Other then that they last forever.

If you want to make your oil pump fail, you have a couple of easy options. Install an aftermarket pulley (excluding fluiddamper), this will give you a bonus failer of your main bearings. The second is to poorly attach your flywheel. Either one of these will instantly start causing your oil pump and mains to receive harmonics that will get that engine destroyed in no time.

If you keep dampended, your oil pump will be fine.
