HELP! Need the real information about block girdles!?
Alright so I've searched all over the forum and haven't found any definitive information about block girdles so here are my questions:
What do I need to get a GSR girdle to fit on an LS block?
Does the stock hardware bolt up or do I NEED other bolts?
I've seen that some people need to get it machined to fit and some people don't- so what the real deal about this?
Thanks a lot in advance!

i believe you need the main caps and gsr main bolts as the will be longer for the girdle. and i highly recommend getting the mains line honed

You dont have to get a line hone if you just use the girdle. If you use the girdle and main caps, then yes, you have to get a line hone.
Basically you have a couple options.
- Buy GSR Main caps and girdle and get the mains line honed
- Modify a GSR Girdle to fit the LS main caps (center one is taller, so you have to machine the center part of the girdle down)
- Buy an aftermarket girdle that is just like the gsr, only made to fit the LS Mains
With any of the above options, you will need the longer GSR main bolts (the center 6). You will also need the GSR oil pickup, windage tray and oil pan. The girdle hangs down an extra inch or two so the windage tray is designed differently to wrap around it. The pickup is much shorter and bolts to the girdle (completely different leg design). The pan is also different (shorter I believe) to account for the above mentioned differences with the oil pickup/windage tray.
Personally I'd get the erl 5 main girdle....if for no other reason then its PIMP. Yes, thats right, I said I only want cool parts cover in oil under my oil pan that no one can see.
