Get rid of the intake manifold, header and some internals. And a good tune

RMF $950...You have to pay to play sometimes. Look into head work. Cleaning up the ports flat face valves to bump up a little in compression and some cams. not sure if that going to get you into the 11's but would get you into the 12's with tuning.

I would change the intake manifold to a Euro R or buy a stock manifold and have it machined. As for the header RMF,SMSP or DTR.Or if those are to much get a Vibrant.Get some cams, valvetrain, flat faced valves and you should see around 220-230 hp.Should net you around mid-low 12's if your a good driver

I dont know ive heard some bad things about the Skunk2 manifold. For the price you pay for it,its just better to machine your stock one.I have my vtec at 4500rpm redline is at 7500.

It was dyno tuned for 4500.Like they change vtec around and it only like vtec at 4500.So i dont know.It works.Sometimes it sucks becuase i be at a light and im in 1st and before i know it im at vtec already.

just go with a ported stock manifold. i have dyno proven results that it makes the same power as itbs. good thing about it is that its a fraction of the price

Re: (gabrielle)
The skunk2 manifold will make power over the stock one if you have the right setup to go with it. You have to have the compression, cams, and rpm to take advantage of the manifold. I flows well but you need to be making power at 8500-9000 rpm. See my thread... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1587351

Re: (gabrielle)
I believe there were some dyno test done where it did not make power. Check the Prelude forum. I could be wrong from my calculations and it will vary depending on the cams you have, but I imagine its made for a more built setup. PocketRocket (sp?) did some flow bench testing on the manifold and found it to be good. I also remember DPR saying something about it flowing well when he had mine. I don't think you can have a manifold make good power on a stock motor and then on a built motor with a higher powerband. I'd keep it and try it out though. You'll probably end up getting cams anyway.
To bust 11's I'd say you should get some Type-S pistons, a little head work, mill the head so its 12:1, good cams w/ cam gears, a lot better header, 70mm throttle body, and hondata or some other similar software. If you have 220 to 230 whp on a H2B in a hatch you should be able to reach your goal.

Re: (DC4_MADMAN)
nice thread not looking to stroke the motor out but i have a couple of question if anyone can answer them would appreciate it.
1. What cams make great power for the money and what vavletrain to go with them.
2. do i just go with type s pistons and wondering if i can bore the motor over some more by getting a oversized piston.
3. If i get it sleeved to a 89mm wit the h22a crank would i see any good gainsout of this or just stick with my typoe s pisotns and will aftermarkers rods help or make me lose power lmk anyone thanks.
dynoing my car today let u know how it goes

Re: (gabrielle)
1. Crower Stage 2 or 3's or Skunk2 Stage 2's. You can't go wrong with Ferrea valvetrain.
2. You can't bore it out with the stock sleeves past 87.25mm for the Type-S pistons.
3. 89mm sleeved bore, higher compression forged pistons, and aftermarket rods will most likely give you more power and a better platform to make more power later on. However, expect to pay around $1750 for all that vs $500 for just Type-S pistons and a bore/hone. Check out my old setup http://www.rndauto.com/ranta.htm If I would have had the Stage 3's, a little head work, and slicks, 11's could have been reached.

Something is wrong then, what B trans are you using? Are you running slicks? Suspension? With decent driving that car should be hitting 12s. Skunked is runna GSR trans and a stock USDM H block with cams and he is running 12.2. And his race weight is 22XX #s.
