Nope, I didn't get the GII. I have been looking into some non-traditional machines to do something a lil different. The BB would be nice for the "micro" machine shop though.

yeah but a bit pricey for my workload right now.

you can do more with a bridgeport and tooling than you can with a dedicated seat and guide.

good news travels fast huh?

i made a centerless valve spinner that works on my surface grinder. its not the fastest or most consistent but some came out as good as the 45's that were ground by an $8500 centerless rottler refacer, so im pretty happy.

going to try making another one with a different design i thought up.

So why is it important?

Can someone supply me with rings that will actually benefit from the gas porting?

Hell I've heard of po'dunk machine shops around my area that still use a cordless drill and a grinder to do the valve facing let alone back cutting lol

As I'm sure you noticed most valves aren't even perfectly round past the face so it probably shouldn't matter too much if you aren't dead on down to .000000001" like you are the rest of the time.

yeah, it gave me a nightmare of a time last week. an oversight on my part has the edge of the pistons tapping the non-thrust axis of the head upon startup. other problems arise in fixing it but its all straightened out now.

not being much of a tuner, i did a very mild timing map and rich a/f tune for it to get the owner around while he recoups from the cost and effort for a while. i still have to fab a header and exhaust for it, while he comes up with a better manifold and TB, all of those items were stock b16 stuff.

i did a lot of experimental piston dome shape stuff to try to accelerate burn rate. this motor starts amazingly fast, like first spark and its running. it also accelerates on very very slight throttle changes. like from 8% tps to 11% and the car is pulling forward. those were the only noticeable attributes so far. after the other parts are on ill do more street tuning, play with camshaft position, tune some more, then go dyno and see what its like. as i said, im not much of a tuner presently so...
