Re: DD/Drag B20V build
All good.
Every build is different so unless you got a basemap for same injectors, same fuel pressure, same cams and intake. Then the basemap will be wrong.
I make my own basemaps and tune first statup with a wideband.
Then tune myself on the dyno.
Know the job is done correctly then. But I am a tuner so little advantage I guess.

I know the basemap will be different, but I thought it would at least idle.
All good sounds like you are being looked after

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
I ran into a couple minor issues pre-dyno so I have pulled the plug on getting the tune done til the end of the month. I will be in Vegas for the weekend and then will be out of town for the following 2 weeks for work. I need to re-seal my cam seals, I didn't get something setup right and it is leaking oil pretty good. I also was getting some interference through the dizzy at higher RPM which was randomly causing it to cut out so I need to address that as well. I'm going to take it apart and get it ready to go so when I get back I can head straight to the dyno. Shooting for the last weekend of march (28th) as a deadline.
Not how I planned on all this going down, but I was rushing it a bit at the end. Going to step back and make sure everything is 100% before it hits the dyno again. Tired of wasting time/money from being in a rush.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
No new updates on the civic yet. Just got home from Vegas for the weekend last night and haven't worked on it. Good thing is I am no longer headed out of town for 2 weeks (found out today) for work so I should be able to get it finished up this weekend. Not sure if I can get on the dyno. I'm going to call tomorrow and see what the schedule looks like. I did help my dad get our other build up and running tonight so I'll share that lol. It was a nice change of pace and we work well together so it's always fun to get a project running. We finished putting the motor together last week and he dropped it in this weekend while I was out of town. Another all motor monster though
11.5:1CR 388 SBC street car build for the 70 Chevelle. In the longer video it's running really rich...it was the initial start up and the carb adjustment was waaaay off. We rebuilt it and had to readjust the floats. The shorter video we took some fuel out and added some timing and got it to idle. Still not finished but its getting there.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
We are going to put his car on the same dyno that I am getting my car tuned on. Rich offers $80/hr to rent the dyno so were going to get some drive time on the motor to get it close then fine tune it on the dyno. My dad is shooting for high 11's and I am shooting for mid 12's. Should be some fun street motors regardless. He's got a 4 speed and 4.11's so it will take some seat time to learn how to get it off the line. We're guessing his motor is roughly 575-600 crank so to the wheels probably 450ish w/ torque to match. I'll take a pic of the motor and post it up too.
Maybe we can both get a dyno day in at the same time

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
:/ Hit yet another set-back today. The top right corner of my oil pump started leaking oil. I'm not sure why all of a sudden it's an issue, but I got the car dialed in and idling then boom...notice a puddle under the car. Hasn't been leaking for the past few weeks I was working on getting it running. Soooooo that means that side of the motor is coming apart tomorrow with the oil pan. So frustrating. I have a short clip of the idle I was able to tune in quickly before i found the leak. Probably still another 2 weeks out til I can get dyno time too.
On a lighter note, after my car pissed me off, we took the chevelle for a walk around the block.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Should have it all fixed by next weekend. Tore it apart this morning to figure out what happened. There was a small spot on the oil pump o-ring that looked like it got pinched and cause the leak once the motor got up to operating temps. Should have the new o-ring in a couple days. In the mean time I'm going to do a quick wellness check and double check the torque on the mains and rods while its apart for peace of mind lol.

Thanks for the reference to your build thread man! I just spent the last hour reading it all. I'm at the point you were a year and a half ago doing your research. I am more excited to start my build after reading this. Can't wait to see your numbers man.

Issues are getting sorted out though. Got everything put back together tonight besides the oil pan. I'm waiting for the pan gasket to show up (should be tomorrow) and I'll re-start it and take it for a test drive if everything is good. I have the gasket I used the first time around...but I'm a 1 time gasket use guy...I HATE leaks.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Yes I use it on the HG, oil pan gasket, on the cam seals, around the oil pump and on the VC gasket when all is said and don't and I know I wont need to take it apart again. Literally the only reason I had the leak from the oil pump was the o-ring didn't go on square and got pinched. Rookie mistake lol. I'm hoping to have the oil pan gasket today or tomorrow and I'll get everything oil free and cleaned up so I can close it up and get it on the ground running again.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Some people have brought to my attention why the does the "base" circle look smaller then the journals.
Thats what regrinding does, we took roughly .030-.040 off and move it up top. The intake cam was redone to bring it back to spec, as well as the exhaust as when these were original grinded, the machine key, was off.(Not something we control) If you've ever seen "regrinds" done correctly, this is a normal, they do look funny but it isn't an issue. We've taken more off on nonvtec and sohc nonvtec regrinds without any issues.
This was the first option for andy, do to his time frame. If he was going to degree the camshafts in, he could easily have set the cams to the correct LCs and been fine, but he isn't, so this option was it. If he has any issues what so ever, we will take care of him, as usual.
This is why we have adjustable Lash.

I gave him a starting point. The rest is on him and his tuner. I've not had anyone have any v2v or p2v issues with the stage 2's as far as i know of or have been informed of, 0/0 is fine on these camshafts, but i normally recommend some separation on all of my stuff due to the duration i like to run.
These camshafts were infact fine, a simple correct process of degreeing would have actually not required all of this work, but i did want to make it as easy as i could on andy. I couldn't just make a new set, i already had other orders in play and he'd be waiting another week or so, at least before he got the cams. This was the best option and there's no downfall to it. We've repaired other camshafts from other people the same way, we've been asked to tweak profiles and what not, its done the same way.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
glad you got a new set of cams (definitely the best option as the originals were screwy, and the regrinds)
Cant wait to see it make some serious power

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Got a K-tuned secondary tensioner yesterday and installed it. I just forgot to take a pic of it . I'll throw one up tonight. I know a TON of people don't run one, but for me the $135 is cheap insurance. With stiff springs, big cams and high RPM I wasn't comfortable w/ the extra movement on the front/long side of the belt even w/ it tensioned properly. If I slip a tooth I will ruin my motor. I'll grab a pic of the setup tonight. It's a sweet system that bolts on where PS would go. If you have PS though you will have to delete it.
I ordered it from StreetRays and I am not usually one to give out kudos but I have oredered numerous things (probably 5-10 items) from them for my build and they are awesome to deal with. They are based in Texas and I always get my parts in Seattle in 2 days. Their prices have been the best I have found plus the shipping is free (unless over sized). I urge everyone to check them out whether it be their site or Ebay. I will use them in the future as I feel like I have gotten nothing but the treatment of a king which is hard to find nowadays.
