If I can't break the filter loose with my oil filter pliers because I don't have enough grip or leverage, then I move to using an oil filter cup. I have a set made by Lisle, but the OEM Honda filter cup is the best one I've used.

those work wonders.

a great option is to simply bring it into a place to get an oil change and have them deal with it. be sure to mark the old oil filter to make sure they get it off.

get a set of adjustable toung and groove pliers.....grip it and twist it off, I believe lube places do that on purpose so you can't get the filter off and HAVE to take it back to them. Jiffy lube has done the same to my car too. Its only supposed to be hand tightened on there, so why on earth is it so hard to get off after having the job done at a lube place........anyway here is a link to a tool similar to what i used and it was easy.

A lot of lube places do the same thing as the manufacture they don't lube the filter. It Really makes it bake to the mounting plate. I would just take it to jiffy lube and let them deal with it even if you put it on, most of the managers will take the time to help you out.

I hate it when I see idiots torque the filter on like no tomorrow. It's supposed to be turned HALF A TURN once the gasket hits the block. MAYBE a little more.
