Default stuck oil filter

was doing an oil change on the EG today and the oil filter wasnt coming off, even with the filter wrench.
i was pressed for time so i just filled it up with fresh oil and away i go.

would it be best to try again soon or can i wait til the next oil change (3000miles)
thanks in advance.

Try getting a strap wrench around the filter. Another option would be to use some sandpaper to try to get some grip. The last and messiest option would be to puncture the filter with a screwdriver and then taking it off.

You can wait till the next oil change to replace your filter. Most filters can easily go 7-8K miles without changing.

Try one of those wrenches with 3 prongs that grip around the filter or just stick a screwdriver through it like you said. Next time just do it up hand tight and you won't have a problem getting it undone. It won't kill your motor to change it next time.

I found the best tool is the cup with a spring in it the more you turn it with a ratchet the tighter it gets and will eventually come off.

bought it off the snap on truck hehe

sears has a cheap one with 3 prongs that doesn't work as easily but should work none the less

I have one from kragen that is like a pair of pliers and works great! B4 buying that when I had one on that wouldn't open a flat head screw driver and a hammer did the trick

If all else fails get a screw drived hammer a hole through both side and use the screw driver as leverage to turn it. I dont recomend this but it worked for me.

Fellas, this is why you use K&N oil filters. They have a 21 mm nut welded to them for easy removal. They're as much as wix and do a better job!!!
