overheating at 75+ mph
i just got an acura cl and i noticed that when im driving on the highway at 75 or more miles per hour, the temperture guage starts to go up after 30-40 minutes. the needle starts to go over the middle marker to the 3/4 mark. when i stop the car or im driving on local streets, the needle goes back to the middle marker. im guessing its the water pump or t-stat. im jsut hoping its not the head gasket.
i was planning to flush the system and replace the t-stat but before i do that, i was wodnering if anyone here has ever had that problem or figured out what it was? any insight would be great. thanks.

i had the same problem with my older mercedes and i replaced the thermostat and the rad cap. but i would also look to see if the red is dirty like the previous poster mentioned.
