anybody tried the Shell Rotella T5 oil? its a synthetic blend of 10w-30 and 10w-40 and they claim it lasts up to 8k miles.

Thinking about trying this in my k24. Anybody have experience with this?

we use rotella in semis and to break in some motors...

I've been reading alot of posts where people indicate that they use it to break in motors because it sits the seals good and lubricates everything nice but why not keep using after is the question. I have also read a little that some people are running it in honda's but mainly the turbo guys and their using 15w.

I'm picking up a gallon of this Rotella T5 synthetic blend its 10w30-10w40 and i think it will be perfect for my k24 in florida hot weather.

I have been using Amsoil in my RSX-S since 2003, and i haven't had any problems with it. Everytime i change my oil it, never comes out coffee black like some of the other oils out there, when you change your oil every 3000 miles. I change the Amsoil every 5000 miles, and it always has a dark golden brown color, which to me is a good sign of a good oil.

Amsoil is good oil, I use that or Mobil 1 with a wix filter.

i use mobil one because i can get it really cheap with costco coupons. 3.50 or so per quart. i use any filter that is available to me whether it be the toyo riki s2k filters or mobil 1 filters.

i used mobil1 religiously for over 4 years and have realized that it thins out to fast. Reminds me of dirty water, or light coffee. I have come to hate it now, so im on the quest.

Mobil1 5-30 with honda filter. Which reminds me I need to do an oil and tranny fluid change this weekend. Haven't done the tranny fluid change since I got the car so I'll try the honda stuff first.

^ if not get the GM syncromesh friction modified stuff. I have used it and it its THAT GREAT!

Used Amsoil at first and it seemed to do well. Then went with Mobil1 b/c I moved away where Amsoil was not readily available.

Mobil1 burned like crazy.

Now using Motul 8100 and loving it. Smooth and min. burning off. I'm using a 5w30 for daily and then switch to 5w40 for track. I think I'll just stick with 5w40 once all of the 5w30 is gone.

I use Red Line 10W-40 in the warmer months, 10W-30 in the cooler ones. Both street and track. Changed every 5000kms or every two track days whichever comes first. 135,000kms on the motor, probably 2000 or more track kms. No issues to speak of, I honestly have no empirical evidence that the oil is good apart from the fact that my motor hasn't blown up yet.
