K20a2 ticking noise???2002 civic si
ok im new to the k series engine but real familiar with the b-series my ? is my friend bought this car with a ticking noise which sounded like the valve lash need adjusted so i adjusted them to spec intake 0.21-0.25mm(0.008-0.010in) and exhaust 0.25-0.29mm (0.010-0.011in) re did the adjustment thought it was out but wasnt but i still have that ticking noise...anything else it could be with these engine im not aware that could mzke this noise...it gets louder as u rev it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk9-TesjybA

Unless you have an engine swap, you have a K20A3 motor which is notorious for cam galling. Pull off the valve cover again and inspect the cam lobes for abnormal wear.

OMG that hurts my ears hearing that.... how could you mistake that for valve adjustments! That sounds like bad bearings or something real bad... Without hearing it for real my computer speakers are junk... it's hard to tell.

yea sorry i thought it was a a2 bt yea a a3 but yea its loud but is sounded like rocker slap soo i had to start some where ya know. @ turbo teg there is one cam lobe on the exhaust cam thats alittle pitted like the motor sat and got rust or sumthing on it and it marked the lobe up a little but is the only bad one and it runs on a roller so i dnt think it woulda mattered but i guess is does?
