Default Can anything else make the Secondary 02 throw a code

Basically im getting two codes for my secondary. I got a defouler on it so it shouldn't be throwing a code but it is. I had the wires checked and it has voltage and i already reset the ecu twice and it won't go away. Car is not driving funny or anything like that. So before i buy a new one is there anything else that can make this code throw. By the way it came on when i was driving in the rain and from what we saw the wires are kind of exposed at the base of the sensor but it seems to be giving good readings so yea...

You can still throw a code even with a defouler.

Just save up for k-pro and eliminate the rear O2 sensor since you obviously installed a race header and no longer have a cat I'm assuming?

Do you have the code P0420 for "Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold"?

I fixed the problem...Anyway i do have a hi flow cat. I do have a defouler. And no KPro. So after running around and trying to find a decent price for a secondary o2 sensor i just said **** it i'll wait till i get KPro...well i changed my spark plugs just because my car was kinda sluggish and about 20 miles are the new spark plugs were installed the CEL went off...so i guess it was just because my spark plugs were bad...

sorry for bumping a 2 year old thread.

But I'm potential buying a DC5 that has a secondary O2 sensor problem with the same scenario. Race header (no cat), defoulers, but still throwing a code. I was planning to get KPro for the car anyway, but want to make sure there aren't any other issues that could be causing the CEL.

Is this possible? Didn't think bad plugs could cause a secondary O2 CEL...

Bad plugs could potentially because the car is trying to fire correctly but not burning all of the fuel.

But most likely if you have a race header it's because of no cat. With kpro you can turn off the secondary and not worry about this problem.

What about to pass emissions? Is it ok to keep the secondary 02 disabled in KPro?

When I installed a header on my car it just so happened my o2 sensor was about 50k miles old and the extra exhaust flow probably made it kick the bucket. I'd swap out the o2 sensor to eliminate any other problems.

Depends on your state regulations. In NY I passed with i/h/e kpro with my cel disabled.

varies state to state. in IL as long as youre not throwing codes you pass, which means disabling the secondary o2 is ok. in CA kpro is technically illegal so you wouldnt legally pass but the smog tech doesnt need to know you have kpro lol

Sorry should've been more specific, I'm in NJ. All they do (at gas stations) is plug in the OBD2 port and look for CELs. So disabling the secondary will be OK?

yep it has no effect on emissions. it's only there to make sure the cat is still working.
