Re: Who all has Hytech products? (Cosworth)
Is it me, or it looks like he's using two different materials for the system.
The canister and resonator looks stainless steel.. what about the other piping?
edit: Oh, and it looks like the muffler need to be welded to the b-pipe as I don't see any flanges. Is this true?

For the b-pipe to the muffler it's a slip fit design, the two ends fit together. On the earlier version it was just a simple slip fit design, however on the newer ones it also has a single bolt that holds the two pipes together...this was modified after we found out how much my muffler had moved around after 40 runs on the drag strip, 2 autocrosses, and ~5,000 road miles...in other words it only happened on my car because I was driving the crap out of it. When I was last at HyTech SurferX stopped by, we jacked up his car and he was not experiencing any movement...I just figure that he's not really driving the car
Hope that helps a little bit.

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (SurferX)
Yeah $700 was what he told me. You can also get it with the cat integrated into it for $925 I think.
John made the jig for the catback from my car. Unfortunately I previously had a header which had been butchered so he could not get a jig made up for stock length headers, only his extra long header which I had also purchased. I'm not sure if he has a new jig made up for stock-length headers yet or not.
This is the full exhaust with Renault cat integrated that I got.

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (H-PIMP)
it really looks dope
but also looks like mugen too..
How do they compare to each other?
There is no comparison, the Mugen exhaust cant hold a candle to the Hytech.

Re: Who all has Hytech products?
From the sound clips I've heard of the Mugen from members on this board it sounds about the same. It has a distinct note to it, it's not very loud, quieter than my Comptech was. If Austin can't get his vid up I will probably be getting a digi vid cam for Christmas and will post clips.

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (SurferX)
Thanks Austin and SurferX,
Yes, the Hytech or SMSP for that matter can be Better than the Mugen but, it all depends on your plans, budget and goals... Everything just fit for me this year... And you must not forget that I've been investigating catbacks for the ITR for over 2 years now.
I spoke to John for about 45 minutes today and after discussing everything will be ordering his twinpass catback exhaust without his cat since I already have a nearly new Carsound 2 1/2". I will also be shipping out my Spoon header and cat so he can fit everything custom for a perfect bolt up. I've requested the slant tip just like Austins.
After this is done and he has the Measurements, anyone with a Spoon header may just order up his catback without having to send your header for fitment. You're Welcome.
I have also requested a custom bolt on Testpipe to fill the HF cat spot if I want to run straight without a cat.
He is giving 4-6 weeks until the order is in my hot little hands, thats fine with me since I'm in the NE and the winter came early this year and I'm not currently driving the car.
What else can I tell you?
Oh the base price for his catback with the HF cat is $900. and $700. without the cat, there is one flange that needs to be welded if you order it without his header or are Not able to send a header for fitment.
Since I am having him fit my header, install the flanges and build me a custom testpipe, my cost $900.
As for sound, John claims his setup slightly quieter than the Mugen but, with a lower tone...
I found out after speaking to John that I have friends that I didn't even know that already run Hytech stuff,,, quite a small world.
As per "is the price right?" Hell, yeah I think so. If you are going for a Real Performance catback then $700. to $900. is Not a big deal or extremely expensive. And competitive with Either SMSP or any higher end JDM pieces IE "Fujitsubo" which was almost my choice.
Funny how people will drop $900 or so on a Toda or Spoon header and be happy but, try to find a cheap exhaust or get one and are not happy with the results... You get what you pay for.
$1300. for his header is a decent price as well, just look at Austins Dyno charts. I may also down the road sell off my Spoon header and HF cat and replace it all with a full tuned Hytech Header back... But, thats for next season and If I feel I need it for whatever reason.
I will also be tuning my car this early spring so after all is delivered and installed I will post all of my dyno information.
Thanks again, good luck to all and have a happy holiday season...

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (1GreyTeg)
Pricing correction.
The headers are 1,300.00 and 1,350.00 for the new version! We have been working on our new version since others have come out with copies of our old design. We have been able to increase the torque and power over the standard header. We have also applied for a design patent on the new version so we will see if we can protect it against copies.
Header back which includes the Renault cat is 900.00 with out the cat 800.00
Test pipe that replaces the cat is 75.00 extra.
Mufflers are 399.00
Complete system is 2,100.00
Plus we have developed a specific header just for the B 20 guys. It is an economical design tht produces great power with out the expense of the Type R.
pricing will be around 800 to 900. It will be released early next year.

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (1GreyTeg)
Looking forward to seeing your charts with the Spoon header and tuning.
Hopefully you recieve it in a timely manner. Granted John is busy with lots of stuff but hopefully he can start to get things shipped out and recieved in the agreed time period.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a vid of my car and of Iggy's car with the Mugen on it.

Re: Who all has Hytech products? (hitechex)
I remember seeing the 22whp gain from the HyTech header+exhaust...
Would you contribute the gain mainly to the header? Or is the cat-back that good of a design?
