Default vtm wire for vafc 2

Thanks to the craptastic instructions apex supplemented me with my vafc2, this piece of equipment has been rendered useless for over a year. Me and my friend have spent countless hours trying to figure out what was wrong and installed/uninstalled the vafc2 many times. The problem was that vtec wouldn't work and while in vtec, the cel would come on. If you look in the manual for b18c5, they dont even have that engine code in their wiring diagram. On top of that the diagram they do have for b18c isn't the same harness layout as the 01 type r's.

After doing some research I found out that the vtm wire has to be wired in for vtec to work properly. My question is where does this wire go? How do I wire this in, splice in with the current wire or wire it in and cut?

Here is a diagram I found that looks exactly like my ecu pinout.

On this website, it says on connecter c to plug it in number 10, would that be correct?

Im anxious to finally get this vafc2 working properly and take it to get it dyno tuned.

I can't help with your wiring question - but I had the exact same issue. The first tuner failed to install the CEL and I was having trouble and CELs for a long time before I figured out what was going on and got it fixed. Good luck.

apex sells a plug and play harness for the VAFC, get one of those instaded of hacking up your ecu wiring harness even more, and that shoudl solve the problem

Yes, VTM is for your oil pressure switch.

Cut that wire. And connect the VTM wire to the end of the wire that goes into the ECU. Tape up the other end as it will not be needed anymore.

Is there any reprecussions for running the vehicle like this (w/o vtm)? If my engine is damaged because of apex'i poor installation instructions, I would be upset.

nope without the vtm wired, wrost case is u throw a code, and u get no vtec. all it does is simulate the proper oil pressure signal to the ecu so it doesn't throw a code when going into vtec

I dont think I have my vtm wire connected. Every once in awhile I throw code 22 VTEC malfunction.
