Two cans of ATE super blue enough to change brake and clutch fluid?
Just as the subject asks: Will two cans of ATE Super Blue be enough to change out the brake fluid and clutch fluid or should i go ahead and buy some Honda DOT3 for the clutch fluid? Opinions?
Thanks.
Here's a couple pictures taken a few months ago by my gf so people will click on the thread

myself and numerous others have experienced weird pedal-fade effects with super blue in the clutch system. this has also been seen in my buddy's ducati as well.
i always just use castrol dot 3 fluid in the clutch system

i don't see how a fluid that can handle the pressures and temperatures of the brake system can have problems handling the clutch system

I've been using it in mine clutch system as well as a number of friends and none of us have ever experienced any ill effects. Theres no variable to make it work any differently than any other fluid. Theres no real heat in the picture either.

I would agree with you.... I flushed both my brakes and my clutch lines with just one can fo ATE.

Most people in this forum tend to not view topics unless they see the little camera icon next to the title on the index. I know I'm guilty of it.
Thanks to everyone who posted useful responses. I'll save my +/- $10.00 and use the ATE i already have.

I had a problem recently with my clutch hydraulics... but im not sure if its due to the fluid that i used or not.
i changed over to superblue for a track day a month or two ago and had problems with my clutch. maybe ill switch back to regular DOT3-4 fluid and see if there is a difference. i replaced the clutch... but the pedal still feels weird.

Re: (Jon D)
i guess the bottom line here is that there is really NO SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGE to using a high performance fluid like ATE in your clutch system. you will see no benefits over standard dot3 fluid. some people use it without any issues, some have had different stories.
however when it comes to brakes, i wont use anything other than ATE.

X2. I'm going to try a can of ATE and see if there is any differece in my brake pedal... Expriencing some fading .

Re: (sheekdude)
the only reason people use the superblue is cause the boiling point is higher than that of regular dot 3... good for track days where you brake temp goes over 350 degrees.
at least as far as i understand it. i may be wrong, but i put it in, and had no fade in the pedal related to the fluid...
the first track day i went to, the fade i experienced was because of my brakes. i bought some **** hole autozone brakes just in case i had to change them. i did have to change them, and i regreat buying those piles of junk... there was no bite at all... just instant fade when i hit the pedal. (lesson : buy at the VERY LEAST Hawk HPS's for the track. dont cheap out your brakes.)
back on topic: im going to switch back to the regular dot3 fluid when i need to flush my fluid again. the super blue is worth the money, but only if your going to the track alot.

Correct, however I still use it in my clutch simply because I would throw the fluid away otherwise. If I have enough left from an open bottle using it in the clutch is a far better use than dumping it in the trash. It's not like I'm going to put the cap back on and store it for later use.
And for the record, I have had a clutch master fail (at about 85-90k miles, approx 2k after replacing the clutch), but have had ATE super blue in the clutch system for at least 20k or so by then, and 40k since then, no issues. I think the master was pissed since I didn't change the fluid for 60k or so

If you are driving on the street, any good brake fluid will be fine, Castrol LMA (if it's still avail) is a great fluid for normal usage and light-moderate track usage. ATE works fine on the street but it's not doing anything great on the street.
You probably just need to flush the system and you'd be fine.
