Default interchangeable crank pulley for usdm b18c5

i recently chipped my origonal crank pulley in a couple places and no longer feel safe driving with it off balance. i have looked through the forums and know without a harmonic balancer aftermarket pulles are bad. but i dont feel like dropping 400$ to get a race pulley for a stock motor.

can anyone help me by reccomending any oem honda crank pulleys that will work with my usdm b18c5?

also jdm itr didnt have a/c if im correct, so does that mean the jdm pulley is lighter due to not having a spot for the a/c belt? or is it the same design as usdm? will it work with usdm?

srry for the cluster question,

if im not mistaken these motors are internally balanced and all the crank pulley does is get rid of unwanted vibrations i had a ctr crank pulley on my gsr for over 20,000 miles and i had no problems i now have a unorthodox pulley on my turbo itr and it has no problems

You were lucky...NUMEROUS horror stories of the CTR pulley DESTROYING oil pumps.

I have a chip on mine as well and wondering if ALL B-series crank pulleys are the same?

They are interchangeable, but not the same. The pulley is matched to the crankshaft. It's not meant to balance, it's meant to damp crank resonance at a specific rpm. Each type of crank has a different resonant frequency and rpm range. Therefore the pulleys are different.

honda motors are internally balanced, but the harmonic balancer on the oem crank pulley reduces the inconsistent vibrations which could apparently kill your motor.
im not looking to drop any weight off the crank, if that was the case id get an 8lb flywheel and drop the 6lbs first.
i just figured since they are internally balanced that as long as there is a harmonic balancer and the dimensions are the same ,the differences in the crank across honda b-series wouldnt matter seeing as they have been internally balanced anyway. but i guess im wrong to assume this?

also fluidampr pulleys for a b18 claim to fit all b-series, except old prelude b20, so if they are the same specs for all b-series how would they work if the oem isnt?

not to argue with your response, just trying to better understand, different rpm range and resonant frequency makes sense tho

and so i dont seem ungreatful thanks for the replies

A Fluidamper and an ATi Super-damper work in a different way. They use friction and floating weights to control crank harmonics over a broad range of rpm. An OEM damper is two masses connected by a rubber isolator. By design, they can only really work in a specific rpm window depending on the rubber material used.

Everything I was going to add has been stated...
that being said, I have an OEM pulley off of my '00 USDM ITR, I upgraded to the fluidamper unit. Throw me an offer. It's not chipped or broken, just a little dusty.

The different OEM Honda pillows have different diameters for the AC and alternator. The ITR pulley is the most underdriven. You can use the other pillows but you'll need longer belts to accommodate them.

I recommend a like for like replacement.
