Can't find Honda Filter, Dealer is closed, need to go to austin, how many miles can filter be used?
Hey guys, I'm going to Austin tomorrow, didn't know it till about an hour ago. The oil in the car is a little over 2,500 miles and same with the filter. I use Mobil 1 synthetic. Went by the dealer after work and they were closed, couldn't get Honda Filter. I'm thinking about just changing the oil and waiting on changing the filter until I get back. I just don't want to drive for a little over an hour and a half at 4,500 RPMs. HOw many miles can I go on the Honda Filter before it has to be changed. WIll I be fine or should I just go with a filter at Walmart. Last time I used a mobil one filter, I have to go buy a different filter cap because the ones from the dealer didn't fit the mobil one, don't want to have to go through that again. Any help on this would be great

Well oil changes are every 6000km. I just did some math and you are running at 4000km since the last one. But I am uncertain as to exactly how often because of your oil, if that makes a difference at all. Oils are not my strong point lol

i know filters are important but i mean, is it to the point where you think your motors gonna die because you're a little late on maintenance? i don't think a few hundred miles is going to hurt anything or maybe i could be totally off. reguardless, have a safe trip.

Just go to Kragen, Autozone, or pep boys and get a fram, mobil, etc.... filter.

There's a difference between being a ***** and being careful. Ask any mechanic the same question and he will laugh at you for your absolute blatant ignorance. Some of you ITR owners need to get educated.

i think another reason for changing every 3000 miles is because of oil consumption..all cars consume oil...if run to long without checking or changing could get dangerously low..
i think the general public could not swallow the fact that their 2002 model car consumes oil..
anyways..just cheack your oil level before your road trip..if its a little low..dont panic..fill it up..and try and drive out of vtec for once..hahaha

Dude...relax. Just go and buy yourself a NON-Honda/Acura filter.
I only use K&N oil filters on my ITR personally. You can find them at most Auto Parts store outlets.

yeah, but I also like the fact that the K&N's are equipped with a 1" nut on the end to loosen your filter up for removal.

Has anyone ever looked in the ITR owners manual, it says every 7500 miles?!?! WTF is that? I know for synthetic you can go that long, but i still change it every 3k regardless. Am i wasting my $ on synthetic even though i change it every 3k? Im pretty hard on my car so i think of it as added insurance.

When I was using dino oil, I was changing it every 3k - 4k miles.
