Cams are rusted. what to do??
i have a set of Jun3 cams that i stored away for a while. i opened them up today and well they have rust patches on them. when i put them away they had oil on them, so i am guessing the oil dryed up (i wrapped them in a towel, how dumb of me )
i was just curious what the best way is to get rid of this rust. rust convertor?
thanks

I like to use OxiSolve Rust remover to remove rust from auto parts.
It can be sourced here http://www.eastwoodco.com/shop...MOVER
After cleaning, apply some assembly lube to the camshafts.

I had the same problem with some ITR cams I used to have... I ended up taking them to a machine shop and having the cams polished.

I would just use a very weak solution of oxalic acid. It will remove the rust and not harm the cams. Another option would be a gun cleaning solvent-- very effective at removing rust, and wont harm the metal at all.

get some swimming pool acid and mix it with some water. Like half and half.
Then spray it on, it will remove the rust. Then after that, just make sure to immediately lube the cams with wd40 or grease...

If it is jsut surface rust why not try to rub it down with a clean rag and some WD-40 or "tri-flow" I have removed some basic surface rust with that method. If it is more than surface then i would follow the advice that others have posted
