STOLEN Integra Tranny???!!! Help me please
So i go to the mall to meet up with a friend, just me n my gurl, we get stopped by the rent a cops and there leaning the flaslights on my car and asking me all sorts of questions.....so after talking with them a cop shows up and asks me for my DL and if i have any alcohol or drugs in the car....long story short he pops my hood (doesnt notice the B20B Thank god) but runs the tranny VIN plate (its an Integra LS tranny) and finds out it was stolen. He asked me if i stole it and i told him hell no and it was stolen in San Diego to be more specific January of 2007, so i was wondering if anyone could help me out cause he said to go to DMV and somehow get it cleared through them, but im trying to contact the guy i bought the car from to figure this shizzzz out cause i almost got my car impounded!!!!!!!! luckily the cop was semi-nice to me.... anyway if ANYONE knows ANYTHING about how to clear this issshhhhhhhhh up please post up cause im scared to drive my car now.............also i want to hurt the guy who sold me the car, Oh and can he go to jail or can i sue him or something? what can i possibly do to this guy if he knew it was a stolen tranny or he did it himself???????
Thanks for helping me out guys!!!!

Id say the last owner didn't know, Normally people that steal stuff dont keep the stolen stuff they sell it as fast as they can.
Just do what ever the cop tells you so you dont get in more trouble then needed. If your cars has the b20b install illegally then you might be in some real trouble.
You cant prove you didnt steal the tranny but they also cant prove you did.
You could try getting the owner before you to come in as witness and say he sold you the car like that but he probably wont because he wont want all hassle that will then be put on him.
So I see it going 3 ways.
Tranny removed and returned to orignal owner
Tranny removed and sold at police/insurance auction.
You charged with possession of stolen goods.
Or if your lucky everything dropped and you get to keep it.

You really need not to drive the car. And hopefully get that tranny out. Dmv is not going to issue a new vin to it. And if you drive it and chp catches you. You face impounding the car till they prove there case if you stole it or not. And have to pay for them to remove it and storage. Or they can crush your car for having stolen parts. And yes they crush cars for stolen parts. Not just for street racing. Do you have a receipet from the seller?

To be a decent human being maybe?? How would you feel if you were trying to talk to someone and they just ignored you and kept walking? I guess not shitty at all since you do onto others, as you want done onto you.
I get the whole rent a cop thing, they are still humans and just doing their job. If he were to "run away" from them, either by getting in his car and taking off or whatever else, he'd be in more trouble, cuz now they'd call the real cops.

Why don't you just take the vin tag off the tranny yourself? If I'm not mistaken I don't think all the tranny's have vin tags anyway. If theres no vin tag there's no way to prove it's stolen.

wow man really crappy situation... it coulda been worse though I thought the title meant your tranny got stolen.. not it was stolen and put in your car..
I say leave the vin tags to keep it legit if you can.. and let this be a lesson about buying parts and making sure their not stolen..
unfortunatly i dont know much about cali laws so i cant really help you... bump for this guy!

yeah sure, leave a stolen vin number on your tranny to keep it legit.....
if i was in the op's shoes here's what i would do
1. remove the tranny
2. remove the vin tag from the tranny
2. clean the area and put jb weld(or something similar) into the old vin tag rivet holes
3. sand down the jb weld and paint the trans casing
4. re-install tranny
as far as having a b20 in your car. thats gonna be a big problem if someone actually recognizes it. so why chance it?
i would yank the whole swap out, trade the b20 for a ls motor, put the re-freshed tranny on the ls and go.
sounds like a lot to do, but if it means saving your car from being impounded.....its worth it

There going to pull the tranny out and charge you for the labor and impound fee's. You will never get that tranny back. Consider it a loss and move on. Its not worth fighting it, because they will just hold your car longer and will have to pay more fees. This happend on here a few years back to someone. Thats why I said what I said. The end solution was guy fought it and still lost the tranny, just because it didnt have a vin tag, it wasnt even stolen. Just buy another tranny. lesson learned.

"f'ing typical American attitude" ?????
That's an awfully prejudice thing to say... So let me get this str8 Rikter (AND YES IM CALLING YOU OUT)...so because your from BC should we all just assume you have a flapping head and beatty little eyes "like all Canadians," or maybe your just a "french Canadian A$$ hole like all the rest" (sucks to be a sterotype right?)
Short story long....This guy purchased a car w/his/her hard earned money and there were stolen parts on it, this person asked for help in time of need. Not criticism.
PS-change your stupid signature Rikter. Its people like you that defame people who love the Honda/Acura community. "RICER"

Re: STOLEN Integra Tranny???!!! Help me please
the only problem is that possession is 9/10th the law, if they cant prove he stole it, he has it so they will assume he did, it suck but it true
also having stolen property is a crime, weather or not the person knows it stolen or not they will tell you ignorance is no excuse, again sucks but true
it suck that it happend to you man hopefully it will al work out but if the cops have told you it stolen and you havent been charged then that is one plus
good luck
