Any CELs? Does the power increase at a certain RPM? Is this a recent problem or is it associated with a modification to the engine?

wrong if your clutch is slipping it would rev to higher rpm's like say your going in 1st and step on it and goes to like 8k rpm like in a second then your clutch is slipping if a clutch is no good you would not go slower ur rpm's wud just fly up which results in car reving high but moves no where that's a bad clucth slipping

If you gradually give it gas, does it still make high RPM power? Is there any gasoline smell in the exhaust when the car is warm? (Unburned fuel from misfiring injectors would cause this.)

I'm thinking that it could be your ignition, especially if partial throttle response is fine but WOT is not. Check the cap and rotor initially.
