I have this book & I'm a mechanical engineer. In my opinion it is a very good book and addresses all the important main points of turbos. The bad, it is a bit of an outdated book, so some of the stuff has changed since the book was written.
I have yet to find another good book specifically about turbocharging.
Garrett's turbobygarrett.com website has a great turbo basic section & even how to calculate performance and how to properly size a turbo, read compressor maps, etc. Check it out.
Anybody else have any suggestions?

Re: Maximum Boost Book Good or no Good? (debogsr)
lol im gonna. somebody recomended it to me they said it was good. the 1st chapter is kinda confusing. it talks about the stess on the rods and how much abuse the piston takes. this other book i was reading said that honda connecting rods are one of the best rods you can go stock and run 8-12 pounds of boost on. is that true?...i been trying to read compressor maps for a while now i dont understand any of it. i understand 1 thing the RPM of the compressor wheel is the curved lines. i have no idea what the percentage is. or what the islands are. on the left the numbers are all confusing on the X and Y side. then again im mathamatically impaired if thats a word

Im a ME too. Technology hasnt changed that much. The basics are definitly in this book. Ive read it soo many times its not funny. If you want another good one, corky bell wrote another books called supercharged. Its all about superchargers.

if you're reading it why can't you determine if its good or not?
