Default Is this a good book to learn about Turbos??

Someone (Darth Boost) recommended this book Bell to me Maximum Boost by Corky Bell for learning about turbos. I think I am gonna order it off amazon unless someone knows of a better one.. I just want to understand more on how they (turbo) and there components work before I turbo my teg..

good book but the best way is hands on experience and hanging out with knowledgeable people. Like they say, you only remember about 20 percent of what you read while you remember something like 80 percent when you actually do it.

Excellent book; I recommend it to anyone as required reading before you do your own turbo install, especially if you're doing a custom job.

I is a good introductory book... I wish it was a little more in depth about turbine/compressor efficiency, compressor maps, etc. But overall it is very informative.

reading the book right now, i agree , somtimes he doesnt go in depth enough with some things... discusses tradeoffs and stuff with various things instead of just bashing one and putting it out of the picture, however, you'll notice in the first few pages, OEM turbos apparently are not even close to what they should be..

I see you guys spitting some stuff out sometimes and I have no clue what it is... So i fugured if I am gonna be boosting by September it is time to learn...........

GS, it's a shame more people don't have that attitude... learn first, reduce stupid mistakes. Although all the reading in the world still doesn't have me making more than 205 whp.

Ah, but "those who cant do, teach"

oh yeah, knowing "a lot" (in quotations cause it is relative) of stuff is kinda depressing at first cause you know what you want to do , but the question is, do you have the $$ to do it

Dustin, what other books do you suggest once one finishes Maximum Boost...since boosting at this point is not likely (good ol pops), i'd like to learn more

Also see Turbochargers by Hugh MacInnes, older but more technical.
