Main Fuel Relay problem

Re: (xstalkrx)
still wondering this question.........my car does not even crank now. Could my problem still be the main relay?
Used to, as long as the inside was cooled down, then the car would start. Now, I dont even get a crank.

Re: (xstalkrx)
The no cranking at all doesn't sound like your main fuel relay. It may be your battery, or something in the starter circuit....or the starter itself.
Before that sounded like it though.

Re: (xstalkrx)
its the relay ,and thers nothing worse than you car breaking down in rush hour on the queesboro bridge.... i have a 94 teg, so the relay was just above the foot rest (yeah its an auto matic) its like a game cartrige, pull it out, pt the new one in, the plastic cover should be gray, and it should have a metal handle with a hole in it, i guess its to keep it from getting lost or so you can use it as a keychain later on...
i spent 800 bucks, 600 on a fuel pump, and fuel filter and new belts and anouter 200 at another mechanic who looked at the distributer, and the starter but said theywere fine, and a crap load of sudden shut down incedents to find out it was a 50 buck relay i could have replaced myself its like any other fuse or relay, except its a relay! i havent had that problem since
the purpose of it is to shut off the fuel to the engine if there is a severe vacuum leak, but when the relay wears out, it over reacts when the oil thins out after the engine is warm. if you are having relay strouble, the thing thats usually next to go is the radiator, unless you flush it religiously. honda makes an indestrcutible engine, but its so dependant on parts that are not so indestructeble, so we have these problems, if these parts were as reliable as the engine itself, the car would run forever... maybee they should do a deal with bmws parts supplier, Boch...
BTW, my relay was made by mitsuba,
its officialyy called relay assy,main
or main fuel relay any mechanic with half a brain will know what it is, but they forget its there, you have to remind them.
94 teg stock everthing!! its my baby you touch it and ill cut your hand off
198200 miles and counting ****!!!!!
when its about to hit 200,000 ima slam the pedal down and give the finger to the first cop i see...

Re: (UmaycallmeQ)
well my car doesnt do sudden breakdowns. It just starts, then stalls after 3 seconds.
Checked the battery and alternator out today, and they are all fine. So, now I will install this relay and see if anything changes.

Re: (xstalkrx)
The relay box splits into 2. Pull it apart and your will see all of the solders. If you have a solder gun heat up all of those solders and remelt them maybe adding a bit more and you should be golden. If that doesnt fix it fork up 35 dollars and buy a new one.

I put in a new battery and it seemed to have fixed the problem. but I guess not. So, relay is going in tommorrow.

Re: (xstalkrx)
i have somewhat the same problem,
BUT instead of not hearing the fuel pump, when the ignition is on the fuel pump is CONSTANTLY running (engine not running).
Usually it would run for a few seconds then stops.
could this be the main relay?

Re: (NTTKR)
main relay is in, my car was parked outside in the heat for many hours and the CAR STARTS. Looks like the problem has been fixed.
for those wondering about the difficulty of this task...it is really easy. Take a look at this step by step tutorial.
