A little more info would help.. what MMY (make, model, year, etc) are you putting it into?
A little more info on the engine, what year B18C (R)? Manual transmission (which one)?
The JDM engine will be missing the CKF sensor, VTEC oil switch, and EVAP controls.
You can bypass the first two, and depending upon what you end up choosing for an ECU either live with or ignore the EVAP. Of course, if you're in love with the EVAP controls there are ways to adapt also - but probably more work.
In my case, I found a used USDM harness (out of a GSR in my case) - and modified it (lengthened the IAC lead), cleaned up the unused CKF/VTEC/IAB leads, etc. That avoided the lengthening process you've started.
I suppose either can work, but the more wires you have to cut/extend/etc the greater the chance of error, or ground issues (etc). If you're careful it'll work fine too.

Re: just bought a type r motor. RHD harness question
first off thanks mark.
its a 98 ls. he got a 96 b18cR motor with the s80 lsd trans. it does not have vtec pressure sensor, ckf or evap. he has a p73 ecu that came with the engine. by legnthing i never cut any wires. just pulled the tubing stuff off and re routed wires and re taped on the engine harness. the chassis harness was pulled longer from under the dash and also re routed and re taped. we live in iowa and we dont believe in emissions here
did you also have to add wires for vtec? or just plug in the gsr haness and go? he was planning on using a gsr engine harness bit cant find any obd2a ones.

If you use the ECU that came with it, you've solved the JDM .vs. USDM sensor issues!
As for wiring, I started with a GSR chassis, so the chassis harness had the VTEC wiring. In your case, you'll need to bring A8 (pin 8 of connector C408 at the ECM) out to the engine harness in order to enable the VTEC solenoid. At least, that's VTEC out in my GSR wiring doc.. C408 is the 32-pin grey connector on the ECM (big one).
I'd picked up a package somewhere that gave me pins for those connectors, but didn't need them - if your connector doesn't have anything in that spot you'll need to grab one somewhere.
Also, does your original engine have a knock sensor? The JDM one does, and it needs to find its way back to pin D6 (C410 pin 6). I think you'll really want that one.. the advanced timing will make it worth the trouble.
Good luck

yes it had a knock sensor. im pretty sure all b18b motors had them. lol. since its a ls chassis im sure il have to wire the vtec in. since its only 1 wire im sure it will be relitavly easy. thanks for the tips hopefully this will all pulg in just fine

You'll still have to wire up VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch (if it has one), and knock sensor from the shock tower to the ECU as the LS isn't pinned for that. Most of the time its easier to reuse the harness that came in the car and add the wiring for the additional sensors. In case you need this:

Re: just bought a type r motor. RHD harness question
easiest thing to do is just get a usdm harness. when i bought mine itr from hmo, it was a plug and play with the jdm harness but wouldnt work. end up buying a 92-95 civic ex harness and a obd2-obd1 dizzy harness and everything start right up.
