Help with brake install
Ok today I just did my rear brakes and before I did them while driving at low speeds (no braking) I would hear a metal on metal sound very slight but noticable while driving, like a ss...ss...ss...ss...ss it was definatly coming from both my rear brakes basically upon one revolution you would hear a ss, and so on. Well I replaced both my brake pads in the rear and now they are even louder then before, I don't have any vibrating whatsoever when I brake, and the brakes DO work well, but the sound is rather annoying, I'm wondering if I need to resurface my rotors? btw I did not drain ANY brake fluid during the install of my brake pads (did the fronts yesterday). My car has 43k miles on it, rotors have never been turned or replaced and my car is daily driven NO track/autocross/street racing.

Re: Help with brake install (Teken)
since bedding? I'm not sure what you mean..... also I realize I overflowed the brake fluid alot on the front brake pads and it was a bit above max and just drained some... I never bled them ever... I suppose I will drive around and take more out if its still above max etc... but if the sound persists what do you suggest?

Re: Help with brake install (shadowdawn)
he's talking about that procedure outlined on that pink card that came w/ your pads.. I have hawk pads so I know it comes w/ a lil card.. tells you to do stops from like 45-35, 35-25 several times.. thats what he's talking about by bedding in/breaking them in/burnishing whatever u wanna call it...
if i recall correctly my pads sort of squeaked when new and still when cold (mornings) after they were broken in and when they get heated they make less noise.. you MIGHT need to re-surface your rotors tho... but some pads just make noise no matter what u do...
