check engine light 2000 ls after oil/filter change
I just performed an oil and filter change on my Integ 2000 LS
regular oil filter and 4 bottles of the usual oil
The first day it was fine, the next day check engine light pops on ( not the maintenance required light ). I feel not enine problems?
Does anyone know what is wrong??
Can a loose oil filter cause that? I see not leeks, but have not check under the car to see if the filter is loose.

nope a loose oil fitler will not make the check engine light come on. u must have knocked loose a vacuum hose or something. check your hoses and wires. if they look ok find out what the code is for then check again.

Just press the reset button under the dash by the steering wheel and if the light comes on again then check everything else. Reseting it once wont kill anything or hurt anything.

that resets the maintanence required light, not the check engine light.
to find out what is wrong, jump the cable under the dash on the passenger side and read the code. light will blink, long=10 short =1

Re: check engine light 2000 ls after oil/filter change (azn_college_guy)
You're right, this morning i went under the car to check everything out... The oil filter is good and tight the oil nut is tight too.
Yes this is a strange problem. I've done oil changes many times, but this time check engine light pops up. I did notice that the auto trans fluid was kissing the low level i toped it off but still light didn't turn off. I wonder if i drove it around for a bit it would fix the problem.
i will continue to search if i find out i'll let you guys know....
if anyone know please let me know....
it is an integra ls 2000 automatic
thanks guy,
acg

Thats definitly not going to fix the problem, b/c if it did everyone would be doing it. Just jump the freaking ecu and get the code thats causing the CEL (check engine light). You will then know right away, without guessing, what the problem is. Plain and simple.

Ok, temp fix....
This might be the problem...
Low in auto trans mission fluid...
It was kissing the low level this morning, i filled it up to the high level with dextron 3, the problem did NOT GO AWAY, even after driving about 30 mins.
I did some other stuff. Did more research but didn't touch the engine....
finally had to drive the car around this afternoon, for about 2 hr, running usual errands, strangly the light has gone away.....
weird huh? Could it be the auto trans fluid? Could it be something else reoccuring? I dont know, but that temp fix fixed the problem
i'll let you guys know if it comes back...hopefully not makes me nervou
Thanks alot guys...
