ok that’s not your clutch. its your clutch master cylinder you have 2 f them one under by the trany which only cost like $30 and one under your clutch pedal which $100. %90 percent of the time its the main one under your clucth chenge it and you are good. If you find it and if you look at it you will c that master cylinder is covered by oil. I am positive abut this.

^^^^ don't listen to that. you'll replace all that sheit and still won't have a clutch. change your clutch and you will be back on the road...this is from experience.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
This happen to me week ago. Is your clutch pedal all the way down?
I bought a clutch because every one was telling me its the clutch then I took it to my mechanic. he said its not the clutch and its was the master cylinder. Its worth a try you don’t wana end up pay 300 for a clutch for no reason.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
The very first thing I'd check is the clutch master. It's very common for them to leak at the inner seal. A teltale sign is low fluid and/or fluid leaking inside the car on the other side of the master cyl. If it's that replace the master and slave. If the hydraulics are fine then get into the clutch disc and pressure plate.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
although checking for fluid leaks is a good idea, most of the time this happens it's the clutch. if the search was working you'd see that there are a lot of threads talking about this issue and 99% of the time the clutch is gone.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
sheit i had this problem happen to me today.. my car would'nt go into gear with the engine on, but when i turned off the engine it would go into gear..im thinking it's the clutch m.c. cause i took it to the dealer a year ago and they noticed it was leaking. if it is the clutch m.c. can i just replace the seal, or do i have to replace the whole unit. also would i have to change the slave?? im hoping it's this and not the clutch..

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
Actually you're wrong. It can be related to a clutch master cylinder failure, slave cylinder failure, or a clutch pedal that's out of adjustment. If one of the issues I mentioned is present, the pressure plate will not relase the clutch disk. This may be why the OP can't shift into gear when the engine is running.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
check your clutch master cyl. Climb under your dash with a light and find you clutch master see if its leaking. Pull the boot back and look for a lot of fluid leaking you'll know. Check your level then check the slave cyl. If those are bad then your clutch is bad. Either 1 worn our or 2 if its a sprung clutch you may have a clutch spring that broke out and it is impeding the pressure plate from dis-engaging the clutch disk

Btw you should make sure the pedal is adjusted correctly after replacing the master cylinder.

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
turns out a piece of the clutch disk broke off causing me not to get into gear. if you have this problem fix it fast, cause i drove it around like this for a week (trying to jam it into gear occasionaly) and now i think i put some wear and tear on some synchro's. my shifting feels notchier.. sheeeit!

Re: Car Wont Go into Gear
ok so there is no pressure on my clutch pedal, I remember driving it before and could feel pressure when I press down on the clutch and now there is no pressure, Is that my c.m.c? Or is that my clutch because I just ordered a clutch in
