i bought a brand new type r tranny too. i used honda mtf, drove it 1000 miles and then changed the fluid. i am pretty sure that is all you have to do. i have been road racing it for a year now with no problems.

use penzoil synchromesh. yellow bottle from autozone. honda mtf is different now and not as good. the only break in really is for the clutch. don't shift above 4 grand until you've done a lot of stop and go driving for at least 450-500 miles.

exactly what the dude above me said. the tranny doesnt need broken in, but the clutch does.

thanks for the replies very informative

Billy did you stick with Honda mtf or change after?

Why do you say Honda fluid isn't as good as it use to be? Anyone else agree?

dont use anti seize. you need locktite on the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts. dont forget to follow the pattern when putting them back on
