Doing my clutch on wednesday, I have some questions
well i got a few questions
1) What transmission fluid should i use? I have a b16 trans, LSD, Type r final drive, ls fifth gear. I used GM syncromesh in my old GSR, but im hearing things about the new MTF tranny fluid from honda?
2) I changed my fluuid before but i dont remeber how many quarts? i think it was right over 3? so how many quarts should i buy?
3) anything i should replace while its out?

1)Genuine Honda or Acura MTF... 6-7 quarts
2) Your tranny takes 2 quarts of tranny fluid
3) clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and flywheel bearing......
Try not to lower the weight of your flywheel unless you are ready to powershift or plan on having your car stall for not shifting fast enough

2.4 quarts for the tranny, so pick up 3 quarts.
The Honda MTF works great, no reason to use anything else. If anything, ask for what they put in the ITR since you have an LSD

My flywheel weighs 7.5lbs and I have never had anything close to that. DO you say this from personal experience or just theoretically?

1) It doesn't matter what fluid you use - Honda **** is just tagged with an H emblem on it.
2) It's just over 2 qts for a B16 - so @ OP: Don't pour until u've used up two courts, start on the 3rd quart through the VSS hole until it starts to spill out of the fill hole - make sure the car is level
3) Flywheel bearing? - Just get a regular clutch kit (clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing) and you'll be peachy.

Re: Doing my clutch on wednesday, I have some questions (Ryank327)
how did lightweight flywheels get pulled into this thread?
if it's based in the statement about "machining", machining is for flatness and eveness, not for weight reduction.
OP, i think you've gotten the answers you need. Also, since you've gotten some VERY different answers about capacities: when you go to the Honda dealership to get the MTF, they will know for sure how much your trans needs. I just did my trans a couple months ago and i already forget, so no harm in checking when you buy. I believe Syndicate is correct though now that i think about it-

I think he means pilot bearing, make sure you replace as these can fail,it should come with your clutch kit, it goes behind the flywheel, so install it before you put your flywheel on or you will be pissed

you should also replace the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and slave cylinder. when i replaced my tranny, my slave went out 2 months later.

Yes, the Helm states 2.3 quarts for a change, or 2.4 after a complete overhaul.

your slave cylinder should be fine, no need to replace unless you screw it up in the process. Also, lightweight flywheels are fine, you won't stall when you shift, you can just shift normally and the RPMs wont drop past where you're shifting into, in most applications(unless you shift like my grandmother).
