2000 db8 dericing and unfuxoring years of neglect
so i bought this 2000 db8 gsr with original motor and leather interior
after a quick look i knew it was a fixer uper but i did not expect that much ****
picked it up for 2500 with no wheels and no stereo system
the guy swore up and down that he drove the car last week and started the rod knock on the freeway and he pulled over right away and didnt drive it after
after checking it out twice i found few things here and there but didnt think it would be anything major
its just the begining so i make a list of what i found so far
engine
rod knock was so bad there was no bearing left
the rod bolts were hand tight at the time when i took it apart
crank is toast so was the oil pump
header cracked in 2 places
grey silicone on headgasket and leaking after a month
grey silicone allover oil pan also
no silicone on cam seals no silicone on valve cover
all intake manifold bolts hand tight
engine mounts blown out
axle blown out
and almost every single thing was halfassed and most likely barely working
even the cam rails were hand tight( 2 of them)
rest of the car
dash was cut for some kind of **** most likely vtec controller
ecu wires were all spliced and taped
ecu was a pr4 with p30 case...wtf
driver window motor burned out
pass door lock not working
defroster is completely stripped
sunroof not working
rear bumper paint cracked from impact
all bushings are blown out from beeing dropped all the way
clutch is completely worn out stage 3 act clutch kit
the tranny case top rear bolt is broken
and whole bunch of other crap that i forgot already
this is just a start
of the restoring
my plans are
rebuild the original gsr engine to stock specs with stock ecu and everything
fix the suspension to stock and new bushings
detail the interior
and the rest of small details
pretty much fix it back to completely stock gsr
pictures are coming soon

mcguyver allignment lol
vtec cam rails 2 honda jackstands and a wire
after putting stock suspension back it had positive camber visible from a mile away
and toe in was about 3/4 of an inch
drove it today and **** was pretty scary.
after mcguyver alignment it drives like a champ.im gonna take it to les schwab on monday and see how good my skills are.
in other news:
i replaced pretty much everything i touched on the car
every single part that i took off was fucked up in one way or another
just a quick list
axle engine mounts
shocks/springs
upper control arms front and rear
header
o2 sensor
ecu
throttle body and all sensors
injectors
defroster is completely stripped
driver side window motor and window controls(buttons)
pass side door lock
sunroof is stuck
windshield wipers are wrong size and wrong position
heater controls are barely moving
water in the trunk
still cant pass emissions because all the emisions sht was really fcked up
but heres my mcguyver setup
more updates coming

That sounds like u gotta fix from ground up..
Hows the brakes on this thing. Surprised I didnt hear a thing about them.

was contemplating selling my db8. But, even though she smokes and is moody in temperament, she brings a smile to my face every time I drive. She loves them curves :D

found a whole bunch of silicone in the trunk
not sure wtf happened there the bumper is not damaged but the trunk bottom is cut and smashed in a bit like they ran over something backing up
I wish the previous owner see this. if you are. you are a fn dumbass and shouldn't work on a car period... list just keeps growing of the parts I had to replace

got rid of the stupid spring rods for trunk lid.
tested out shocks . perfect fit with del sol trunk shocks lol. even has holes for them
and yes those are oem KIA speakers with neodymium magnets
I recommend trying them out before laughing. because I ve been laughing at people when they look at what they just heard and see those. they donno what to do
no springs- freed up some space for 8 inch woofers instead of 6x9

Creative work with the trunk struts. Does the metal where you connected the bottom of the strut bend or flex when you open/close the trunk lid?
Which 8" sub were you considering for the deck lid? Were you planning on using the OEM speaker covers or cutting the deck lid cover open and using aftermarket ones? Have you derived a way to solidly mount a sub against the rear metal opening? Interested to see the outcome of this...

no it doesn't flex at all but I need to find the right length struts these are just test cuz they were laying around. I need about an inch longer and reposition
I wanted to see if this would work and it did nicely
im mounting the subs from bottom and leaving stock grilles then run a reinforcement bar across so it doesn't rattle.
im trying to keep it lightweight as much as possible.

So you're planning on using home audio subs for this idea? I'm assuming they aren't free air subs, so how do you plan on housing them?
