Default engine knock

i started to get some kind of knock recently when i start the car, but i thought its something vibrating during start up.

today, it started knocking really hard when i drove the car. it barely gives out any power, and stalls if idles. 220k on the motor

my guess is the rod bearings, but what else could it be?

it is a rod bearing trust me smae thing happened to me also. umm check your oil and if no oil in it then take your oil pan off and look in the pan for metal shavings if there is then try to figure out which rod its coming from

not necessarily the whole thing according to how bad it is if it didn't scar the rod cap and rod itself your ok there, and if it didn't scar your crank then all you have to do is find out which cylinder its on and then just replace the bearing and hey your done. you do all this by taking the oil pan off, the oil pump and then the girdle, that will give you acess to the bottom of the rods then wiggle each one to see what one is messes up then take your cap bolts out and take you cap off then look and everything and see if its scared up. if it is scared up you can take your crank to a machine shop and get them to smooth it down and make sure you have all your pistons with you that way they can put an different sized bearing in it. but i had the same exact thing happen to me and i just went ahead and built my engine for turbo but hey its your call. hope this helps

i would just take the whole thing out and then build it....most likely its better if you do...once it knocks its shaving metal already....
