1999 GSR ACT HDSS Clutch Blew Apart

Default 1999 GSR ACT HDSS Clutch Blew Apart

Sorry no picture yet.
My ACT HDSS clutch blew apart today. How do I know, the same thing happened to my friends GSR and my Del Sol. I tried to shift both cars exactly the same noise and feeling from the car. The little tabs that hold the springs in place break off and now I have a spring moving around my clutch and flywheel.
The clutch had been in the car about 70,000 miles. The car is NA and was drag raced years ago.
I am thinking of getting an Action Clutch either the 1KS or 1MS. Anyone have good or bad input on these?

yupp same thing happen to my integra too..but on the stock clutch. was just driving normal then heard wierd noise and kept driving then it wouldnt go into gear be hella hard..like forcing it..then got to the point where it would just go by itself and i wouldnt even have to step on clutch or gas..but just get a act unsprung..

That's about right for 70,000 miles. The springs usually give up after about that much miles. Anytime you upgrade the pressure plate expect that to happen to the disc over time.

Stock OEM is the only clutch that will go over $100K in miles.

I have used ACT and Competition Clutch....and ACT has lasted longer between those 2.

I used Action Clutch back in the late 90's...with their Dual Diaphram Pressure Plate and 8 puc disc...and I always use to break diffs with this clutch on a cable b-series tranny.

70k miles out of an aftermarket clutch is pretty impressive. what's done to the motor, that you need a stronger clutch?

Can you elaborate more on these issues. This concerns me on getting this type of clutch.
