looks very interesting, i cant wait to see one in action. the only disadvantage i see versus standard ecutouts is that this one isnt open before boost to reduce turbo spool-up time.

Yea, with my E-cutout open, I build boost faster through out the entire RPM range, so this wouldn't be that good of an idea. . . . unless it opens at like 1psi.

I would think this is pretty much old news. Aerospeed makes something like this. BMWs also has these in there stock 3 series. The ones that aerospeed and BMW makes actually work better cause they close at vacuum and then open when there isn't vacuum (WOT).. The ones that ATP only opens when you boost, you'd probably need it open most when spooling up, not when you're boosting

do you have more info on the bmw ones? i googled this but i couldnt find any info. also, from what i found, the arospeed ones are not automatic, they are a mechanical and user controlled.

here's are pics of the arospeed version that i found:

looks alot like a throttle body, cable and pulley huh?

It can be a good idea. It all depends on how fast it opens..
If it takes as long as qtec cutouts then its pointless.
But i think if it opens instantly then it would be awesome.. Except for the fact that i hit 5 psi or so sometimes just driving...

Oh, maybe I was mistaken with the aerospeed ones. I know the BMW ones for sure have a vacuum gated valve. On the 2002+ 3 series, they have dual exhaust. Exhaust only exits out one side until you go WOT, then the valve opens for the other side. I owned a 3 series before and disconnected that vacuum line. I guess the only way to get it would be to buy a muffler from a 3 series. It'll work better than ATPs setup but the BMW only uses 1.5" piping so you'll restrict some flow there

Pornstar, I didn't mean anything from your post. I meant to say things like this have been out, people just don' know about it

This looks interesting...hopefully the price will be right since it doesn't have any electronic parts.

I'm also looking for an e-cutout valve. But I find the Arospeed to expensive for a manual valve. besides Qtec, anyone knows of another cutout valve?
I may endup making my own.

thank you.

Please share, how would you go about making your own? Here's my idea, but I'd like to hear others too.

Use an old wastegate and a stripped throttle body. Replace the wastegate spring with a very low pressure (weak spring). Then use the push/pull motion of the wastegate to rotate the throttle body pulley and thus opening and closing the throttle plate. Once you get this working, all you have to do is mount the wastegate and throttle together and weld them to the exhaust. What do you think? Well, that's my idea anyways, let's hear others.

bmw has been using the muffler cut out since the e36 body

Don't forget also

I was planning on going with this e-cutout, but I want to see the results of this new one before I decide. I hope they are reliable, because I've seen many post about e-cutouts not holding up too well.

I like the V-band flanges. Not going to fall off and the actuator won't break. Good stuff.

heres more info on the valve...

it starts opening right when you begin boosting, they dont give a psi range for the actuator but they say it opens when boost begins...
