short shifter install problem
First off, I have searched this topic many times but I could not find a solution to my problem.
Here is the dilemma: I was trying to install a B&M shifter and I got to the step where you have to take of the two 10MM bolts that hold the shifter in place but I was not able to get them off due to the little flat heads that hold the bolts in place. The exhaust does not drop down enough because it is welded in place. One of the bolts is also stripped so there is no way that thing is coming off. I cant seem to get a wrench on the flat heads to remove them, and even if I do, one is stripped beyond belief.
Has anyone ran into this predicament before? What should I do? Should i take a torch to the 2 bolts or should I try to chisel them off? Thanks.

It sounds as though you are trying to change the shifter with it still under the car. You need to remove the entire rod that holds the shifter up, put it on the workbench, and deal with the situation. The bolts are designed to stay in place so you should be able to get a visegrip on the stripped nut and get it off like that.

Easy solution..
Go find another helping hand.
Have one guy sit in the car and hold the flat bolts with a pair of pliers
While you go under the car and Loosen/Tighten the bolts.
Done this many times.

Re: (aeon)
Finally, short shifter is installed but I could not figure out where the donut-shaped energy suspension bushing went. I installed the long one with the three holes but not the other one.
Thanks for the help.

follow the shifter linkage all the way to the engine/tranny, there will be a 12mm bolt holdnig in on, take that off and pull off the linkage. try and push out the old bushing and then put the new bushing in. before putting it in, lube up everything, it'll help out a little when forcing the new bushing in.

Re: (aeon)
I tried to install the donut shaped bushing but I think the one I have does not fit my car. The bushing is too small and it has a cut down the center which separates it into two pieces. I think this bushing is made for a CRX, not an Integra.
Any advice?

Re: (aeon)
I have a 1994 integra, gen 3.
The donut shaped bushing is smaller than the stock one where the 12mm bolt connects it near the tranny. I am assuming that it is the wrong application but the other bushing fits fine.
