jdm climate control in 90 crx?
hey everyone, i dont have much time, but im thinking about getting that climate control. the digital one? is this any possibility for a 90 crx si? how is the wiring and is it ever gonna work right? if it isnt, let me know fast. i need one fast! thanks everyone
wow that would look cool in the ef im not sure but i dont think the wires are the same, the best thing to do is if you have one take off the car and look at it see if the plugs look the same it will take like 10 mins
i have a JDM climate control, still trying to get it be functional (well correct for JDM)
you can plug the JDM control into your US car, but i believe it works like the USDM one would, so it would just look different, but still function the same. makes sense?

thats killer, exactly what i was looking for! plug and play is sweet and something that not everyone has is even better. i got the whole thing for 50 shipped, not bad considering the oem ones go for between 100-150! yay! ill post pics sometime when i get it in.
after 2 months of messing with the wiring and playing with the settings going through a bunch of RHD clips with the climate control, i did figure out the climate control and how to run everything and adjust it and make it work, but in all honesty it wasnt worth all my effort and research digging up manuals and stuff cuz i never used AC and the heater in the first place (its was like, allll that for that)....il try to find my wiring diagrams that i made to setup everything if i can...i had to figure almost everything out cuz i didnt find anything on the net when i did the conversion...
Post what you have please!
Im trying to convert the A/C from another car to work the SiR's one. There are seemingly no SiR specific wiring diagrams, only the ones for the EDM crx's.

I got cables in my 88 CRX. the one opens, what appears to be a valve in the path to the *a brain fart uhh* ?coolant? the mini radiator. I can't remember exactly wher the other one went I just have to look and I can figure it out.
I could have swore but i could be wrong that the JDM doesn't use cables?? I thought it was all done through wiring?? So if I'm right that would mean it could plug but maybe not play correctly. Sorry not positive.
By putting in the JDM A/C ECU, all the motors and control wires etc, etc, etc...
IE: Lots of hassle.
The JDM style unit is a pin compatible for the USDM unit. All the switches would work, but not function in the same way as with the rest of the kit.
The heat **** on JDM is a ABCD switch. You could rig a circuit up (or get someone to) which controlled a stepper motor linked to the existing cable operated parts.
But, for those two cables on hte USDM heater **** (it is two right?), one goes to the valve in the engine bay, and I dunno where the other goes.
On a SiR that valve is motor controlled. Get the motor, or swap for a motor controlled valve, doesnt have to be the original part just one that you could make work.
Still isnt JDM y0! but least it works better.

well, this is gonna be interesting! thing is, everything looks pretty close, so i think ill give it a try. if not, then.... i have a busted *** nasty thing to put in, so... ill keep you all updated. if anyone who has it working would like to share a bit, we can get in touch? thanks for all the posting here guys (and gals, if any), i love it when people post in my threads! makes me feel *TEAR* special...

If any one is intrested: I am very fluent in electronics and they are a hobby, i could make or draw a schematic of a curicit to drive a servo or stepper motor to drive exsisting cables.

hey, thanks! i might be takin ya up on that. i was talking to someone who has the same unit i just got, though, and it does run off cables (as you just detach them by 2 screws from the back and put them on the new one) and its MOSTLY plug and play. the only thing that shouldnt work right is the auto, but all the other stuff will function just fine! this makesme happy, since i paid 50 bucks shipped and an oem one would be well over 100. this one comes with all the wires/plugs for the back, too... so who knows, maybe someday ill make it work the way it should, but as long as the main stuff functions, it oughta look nice in there huh? thanks for ALL the help guys, its really appreciated!
sorry guys i have been busy with some stuff so i havent had a chance to reply.
As for the wiring sketches that i have, im still looking for them they are some where in my room, i just dont know where. Its not with my Honda pile of stuff so its a pain looking for it. As for the conversion heres my quick run down. I ripped out MOST if the wiring from the back of the climate control and followed the wires out to all the sensors and motors in the engine bay, and I PULLED IT ALL OUT of a RHD fron clip. It saved me atleast 80 % of nightmares looking for wiring directions and figureing out how it actually worked and what went where. Theres a TON of wiring to be done if u just have the back chopped with all the wires just sticking out. On a side note, if u dont have access to a RHD front clip to get some of the sensors and the coolant motor the actual thermostat in the dash and other misc. ITS NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. I only did this because i had access to a rhd front clip. But getting back to the install u need some parts other then the climate control unit. Mine ran off like 3 sensors 2 thermostats and like a wierd 2 motor device to open up the line to the heater core... but yeah its kinda late im tierd and il keep looking for my pictures of the install and the wiring details....
NOTE: i only have the wiring for what i needed not 100% of everything because i had ALOT of the main harness......

i have a circut that uses a normal poteneomiter and not a abcd swich so if u want to gut out that part and rig up apot to the temp *** u can use this to drive the cables.
if any one wants to gut out the rare climate control to do this IM me BUT I TAKE NO RESPONABILITY FOR ANY THING THAT GOES WRONG

Its pretty easy. Ive have mine in bits to fix it when it cracked. The switch side of things, internals wise is IDENTICAL in wiring to the USDM one. Except the JDM doesnt have the fly lead for the A/C switch, but it has the silk screen for it
The ABCD switch is easily removeable part once you take the back off that side which again is pretty easy.
Pot driving a servo. Like the thinking

got my jdm ef8 climate control today, for my crx and everything was plug and play. I dont have a/c so the climate control **** is useless but the heater and defrost work just fine and the floor vents/air circulation/ recirculation all works fine. I dunno if it lights up yet because it isnt nighttime but i'll let you know. Also I got this for 51.00 shipped from ebay
screw paying 150+ for a usdm one!!!!
