Put all of the cam caps on and tighten them all of the way. Some of the cam lobes will be pushing on the rockers when aligned at tdc.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by quis23 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">thats what i was thinking, but i was afraid i would bend some valves. </TD></TR></TABLE>Then put your crank 90deg. away from TDC. Now all the pistons are mid-stroke, so nothing can hit. You can do whatever you want with the camshaft.

When you have the camshaft sitting at TDC, then move the crank directly back to TDC.

When the crank is at tdc the #1 and #4 piston will be at the top of the cylinders. The lobes for #1 and #4 cylinder shouldnt be pushing the valves down.#2 and 3 will be at bottom dead center,so the lobes for those should be pushing the valves a little. You will have no clearance issues or valve contact.Make sure the line on the sides of each cam gear are even and lined up with each other. The "UP" doesnt have to be 100% straight up,as long as the marks are even.

Let me know if how you fixed it
