[FAQ] Hood Weights
Tons of crappy information out there for a good topic... If you've got GOOD information (not just from your arm scale) please PM me and I'll add it up. If you find any of the numbers to be wrong, please also let me know that.

not to disprove what you are saying but my vis hood weighs only 16.5 pounds, i weighed it before i put it on, i have the evo hood and there is a big hole in it that might be the difference because i expect you are talking abou oem style hoods?

all my numbers were based on other posts that i felt had merit. and yes, the evo hood might weigh less because of the hole. i've added your 16.5 up.

Whats the difference between a fiberglass hood and fiberglass hood skin? I'm guessing it doesn't have the underskeleton? Is the 7lbs one listed for the skin or the whole hood?

Edit: Answered my own question. Skin is without the skeleton. Still wondering if the 7 lbs is skin only.

stock hood is 31 lbs. also, the MB does not weigh 7 lbs. it is 15. they use a heavy *** resin. maybe their skin might be that, but i doubt it.

it is nothing special. basically a simple flat hood with 3 ribs under near it. needs more then 2 hood pins to stop the flapping at speed though. all in all, it was heavier and not as good of quality as MB promised.
