Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack?
2005 should be an interesting year for a lot of our Honda pilots in racing and autocross.
IT:
94-95 Civic Si goes from ITS to ITA
94-99 Integra RS/LS/GS from ITS to ITA
94-95 Civic EX Coupe goes from ITS to ITA at 2305lbs
88-91 Prelude goes from ITS to ITA
87 Prelude Si goes from ITA to ITB
Coil over threaded body shock/struts are permitted
Competition adjustments looks like it's going to go through
Solo Street Prepared:
S2000 goes from ASP to BSP
Integra Type R from CSP to DSP (!)
86-93 and 94-01 Integras split into separate line, presumable to close some sort of update/backdate rule
Interesting year 2005 should be.

I was gonna say yes, but I went and looked at scca.org and they have it in PDF format.

Re: Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack? (JMU R1)
I just see where it says the 94-95 SI is "proposed to the board of directors for a reclassification effective 1/1/05." So does that mean it is going to be3 moved, or just that it is a proposal that the board of directors will hear?

Re: Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack? (jisu009)
The BoD generally approves any recommendation from the club racing competition board. I somehow missed the 3rd-generation Integra getting moved into A. That's good news, too.
It's interesting how much ITA in 2005 is going to look like what we proposed for IT2 - non-VTEC Integras, Si/EX Civics, Neons, 2-liter Nissans... It's going to require the movement of a LOT of lower-end ITA cars to B to give them some kind of justice but I guess that's what the club racing folks decided was the best course of action.

I hear that!!! I can't wait for the day that the GSR will be able to compete against a BMW with a lot more HP and RX7's with more power and brakes!

Yep. Technology, as they say, marches on. They can't ignore the fact that a lot of viable platforms have been released since the 91 CRX I guess.
In a similar context, I also notice that they've proposed the allowance of non-original replacement parts...
"Stock replacement parts may be obtained from sources other than the manufacturer provided they are the exact equivalent of the original parts...obtain replacement parts from...auto-parts distributors, rather than from the manufacturer."
There is no verbage at all with regards to "you can do this only if the car is so damn old you can't get parts for it anymore." I smell a loophole...those driveshaftshop.com axles are looking pretty good all of a sudden.

Re: Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack?
I was allways perplexed why the 86-89 Integra was classified on the same line with the 90-93 in DSP. There's like almost nothing that could be updated between those cars without major surgery. Might as well list it on the same line with a Celica...

I would anticipate a lot of movement of cars to different classes with the talk of alowing ex-WC cars into Improved Touring. If that happens it will be one big shuffle.

Did I miss something in Fastrack? That seems like an Incredibly Bad Idea. The SWC cars are illegal as hell for IT.
I saw something about allowing SWC cars into D Production but didn't notice anything else.

Re: (ITACRX)
None of this is set in stone yet, but it will all likely happen.
The SWC cars aren't headed for IT. They're headed for 2 new prod classes. This is also a very good idea. A sanctioning body needs a place for its old pro cars to run in the amateur ranks.
Things are looking very good for Hondas in SCCA. The Preludes in ITB, Civics and Integras in A... All excellent choices. I believe there will be a Nissan and Dodge uprising in ITA within a year or two as well.
Suddenly ITA looks like a FANTASTIC place to race. If I were building a car right now, it'd be an ITA car.
Karl, Zsolt, Phil... Have you guys written that letter yet requesting a weight reduction?
Dr. K can give you advice on exactly how to word it, but I'd get it in if I were you. Things are happening fast, don't miss the bus.

Re: (Catch 22)
Being a new ITA racer this year with a DA Integra, I'm torn with the newly proposed ITA cars. Only because I honestly think those will all be good cars in ITA and it's already tough to run out front without them - haha!
I really have to look hard at the DC non-vtec Integra's. Yea, stock they only have 2 more hp at the crank over the DA's but I've seen them make about 8-10 more hp at the wheel (again, stock). The EG Si's will be quick too IMHO - pending weight of course.

Re: Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack? (StageOne)
I never understood why a 94 LS Teg was classed in 'S' and it was so mechanically similar to a '93 model Teg. Any slight advantage could have been equalized by a higher minimum weight. I had a 96 that I wanted to eventually prep for IT, but I knew it would get its clock cleaned in ITS, so I sold it 2 years ago to my niece. Common sense takes a while to sink in at SCCA.

Re: Anyone else catch the latest FasTrack? (Track rat)
So with these changes, what's most likely going to be the Honda to have in ITA. Was originally thinking of building a 2nd Gen Integra for ITA, but now, the options have opened up a lot.

It's anyone's guess at this point since for most of them there hasn't been a weight released yet. I imagine the DA and the CRX are still going to be quite strong ITA platforms.
I'm interested in where the ITB Preludes end up. I've heard that the 2.0L Prelude motors have a bad reputation, something about rod ratio or some such thing...
