Default carbon fiber trunks and woofers...are these compatible?

drive an eg coupe
already have a bandpass box with two jl10w6's
thinking bout purchasing a cf trunk
will the cf trunk hold up to the beatin of the bass just as well as an oem trunk?
will it vibrate more?
should i worry about it warping from the bass?
thanks in advance

You should have no problem, although if it is a trunk [not a hatch] if you find ways to release "pressure" into car [holes in rear deck] bass will sound better and so will rear speakers if you have them.hope this helps 94

thanx
so u don think the "lightness" of the trunk will affect the "sound" of the trunk (i.e. excessive vibrating)?

No, pressure inside trunk will, if it cant get get into car [through "holes" you made] it will "fart" out trunk gasket or [and I have seen this more then once] blow cones out of rear speakers. try this, pick a tune ,play it, remove rear speakers[as take them right out] play same tune again. 94

So ur saying if u let the bass escape somehow into the car. it will relieve pressure. and cut down on rattle of the trunk?? if so. im tossing my rear speakers so my bass can vent in. i dont need them anyway right??

It also makes the bass louder from the outside of the car, which is good if you like to impress people with your bass.

BTW, fcm get a freakin avatar already!

i would want to see what the trunk felt like.. i think it might be a little flimsy but ive seen cf hoods in accidents that were left untouched becuase of how strong they were made.. (only certain ones some are weaker than others)

Whats the best way OTHER than folding down ur rear seat. Thats too ghetto around here , and its a bitch to keep raising and dropping my rear seat. so is there a type of carpet i can put on the rear deck that more breathable. or should i just ditch the rear speakers and let those holes be the vent

so when the seat is folded down...
do i face the box with the ports facing the trunk or towards the front?

cf trunk is approx 10 lbs lighter for the coupe
automatically i'm under the assumption that it is a lil bit less sturdy

the better question is....

why buy the CF trunk if it's only for a 10lb saving, yet you are going to keep the big stereo....

makes no sense to me, and sounds like a big waste of money - JMHO

That is actually a very good point

You should point the subs toward the trunk to maximize the bandpass effect from compound loading.

You should also try to keep the box fairly close to the back of the trunk to maximize the loading effect and help minimize any cancellation effects.

i'd much rather have a trunk already on...
b/c i will take subs out when the situation dictates
subs will be a lot easier to take in and out as opposed to taking off and reattatching the cf trunk
the subs will be in the trunk majority of the time however...hence the questions

thnx for the tip

Above where you click to log on or off, click on "my profile". Avatar selection is in the left column.

Once you click on that it gives you a couple default avatars and the option to upload your own.

You can use any image you want, but the file must be under 25K.

When I first became a user I had a hell of a time finding an image on my computer under 25K, but I have since figured out how to use a photoshop program to decrease the file size.

show car... awesome. Why are you buying a cf trunk when you have car audio to save the same weight ? seems like a waste of money unless your doing it just for the attention

i think cf trunks are tyte!...on top of the weight reduction (2 for 1)
i plan on have the car audio equipment will be removed when weight becomes an "issue"

you don't need to dith the rear speakers, just bore 2 holes ad put 2 ports in the shelf beside or between the speaks to let through the bass
