I ordered a turbo from a company off here(will not name). It was suppose to be a sc61 with the works(stage 5 wheel, custom exhaust plate,..etc). I just looked at it the other day and it dose not say precision on it. They said they were waiting on it for a month from precision because it was custom. I got it now and it says garrett on it. ??

 

You probably got Garrett's 4-bolt turbine housing instead of Precision's 5-bolt turbine housing. Is there scribing on the compressor outlet?

It is a four bolt.

 

That's why it says Garrett. Precision uses Garrett 4-bolt turbine housings.

let me jump in here.. what is the inducer and exducer on turbos?? ive been tryin to find out the exact model of my precision turbo and i cant.. i wish i understand all the real technicals on the turbo sizes and things like.. can anyone explain please??

This is an example of Precision's scribing

 

Measure the base of the wheel (compressor=exducer, turbine=inducer) and the tip of the wheel (compressor=inducer, turbine=exducer).

compressor wheel -
(inducer x inducer) / (exducer x exducer) (100)

turbine wheel -
(exducer x exducer) / (inducer x inducer) (100)



A: Turbine wheel, B: Bearing and seal, C: Turbo shaft, D: Exhaust turbine housing, E: Backplate, F: Compressor wheel, G: Compressor housing, H: Bearing housing, I: Inducer bore, J: Exducer bore

With Precision turbochargers you can identify them with the scribing. The only way the scribing would be wrong is if the individual assembling the turbocharger at Precision made a mistake.

 

that is what I have on mine...6152E

 

6152E is an SC61 with a T350 76 trim turbine wheel and a T04E compressor cover

 

Is that the best I can get other then the sc63?

 

Allot of tuners on here seem to prefer the SC61E over the SC63E. The only other turbocharger (within that price range) I would take over that is the non ball bearing Precision GT35E.

lol.. im happy i know what turbo model it is now.. turbo was bought from inline pro and i forgot...

how much better would an SC61 do over my SC44??? should i look into upgrading?

The SC44 is a good turbo. If I am not mistaken they use it with a .48AR housing? For the most part people have turbos that can already make 500whp but still want a SC61.

yes it has a .48 a/r housing... whats the a/r ??? on precisions site it says i can also be a .63 would that have been a better turbo??

im pretty sure im happy w/ this turbo for now.. once i get it dyno tuned, ill be even happier

sorry its late and another shitty saturday night (i hate rain) so im getting a crash course on definations of turbos..

 

The SC44 with a .48AR works really good together on a street car. Makes things really fun...

i traded my sc61 for a sc44 and have no regrets. afterall, how can i be disappointed with quicker spool?
