Default DSM Turbo Project

Hey everyone, I am putting together a stock DSM turbo kit to put on my JDM F22B DOHC engine. I am just doing this for kicks, not for major power just a little extra for daily driving that IHE can't do for that motor. If any of you are doing this or have done this please chime in with your opinions.

Most likely a hack program, I am still trying to source the parts...trying to make this a low-budget project, but there will be lots of time spent into it as well as dyno tuning.

for EM you can use the Uberdata and a wideband, or a Safc.

For the manifold- the 2nd gen manifold is better from what I hear, less prone to cracking and flows better supposedly

the turbo however off the 1st gen (14B)is better since flows more air or something.

you can use the bov off the 1st gen

both turbo's have an internal wastegate and go upto 12psi, so you have to tweek them slightly to get the wastegate to open sooner. 6-8psi

you can get a FMIC off a starion or conquest for reasonable amount of money.

You'll want to upgrade the stock fuel pump to a walbro or something. also, its smart to get the dsm injectors as well since they flow more fuel.

You'll def want a good EGT and Boost guage as well

for piping you can go with alum or plastic/pvc, yes I said pvc, someone said they used it and it worked very well, but it is hear say.

well, I was really considering it for a while and did alot of research on it. the only reason I didn't do it was because I dont have a second car and couldn't deal with the down time and getting to work and such. Also, people hate on the setup since the turbo doesn't flow enough air up high, so when going higher the powerband the HP.TQ wont be continuing to climb, it will fall on its face as so many put it.

But, the point of the project is to be cheap and ghetto. so as long as the boost is kept low then it should work great, especially for around town and such

PVC is okay for low boost applications under not too hot of heat there is one person running it for a few years succesfully on a dsm turbo at about 8 psi but if it gets too hot it starts to mealt and releases toxic and bad for your engine fumes.

Yeah thanks, I should have a second car but I am trying to finish before the end of summer so when I commute to college it should be ok. But at the moment no job and funds are depleting. But like I said I'll keep you all updated.
