Default Effect of 2nd O2 sensor when using a testpipe ...

Typically on the OBD2 ECUs the 2nd O2 input shouldn;t affect performance, although many have reported more fuel consumption wehn using a testpipe and driving with the CEL.

My experience has been that my 01 S2k got slower after testpipe install and you feel the sluggishness even at WOT when ECU hits open looop, well I finally put an O2 simulator in and no CEL and the car responds better and accelerates better ... my conclusion is that the 2nd O2 sensor CEL from testpipe does affect performance.

You got different results than some Greg. Must be the carbon fiber pistons you're running Honestly I have to say I had the opposite experience when running the testpipe with the second o2 sensor removed and unplugged from the harness. Gas mileage didn't change and I couldn't really say there was a gain or loss in power since there was no dyno testing involved. Keep an eye on the miles you put on the car since you installed the simulator and see how long the ecu goes without a CEL popping up.

Well on our 03 S2k we installed a testpipe and the power seemed to improve. And our CEL is always on now.

hmmm, actually I never "unplugged" the o2 sensor I just zip tied it .. perhaps thats what caused the difference ?

I know the car is remarkably quicker compared to how it used to be. I've also been slacking off and still haven;t put on the Toda header ... I better get that done before the next Survival Series event in a week or so. Gonna try the beast in the Comp 4 class again vs the GSRs and ITRs and Nissans lets see if the S2k cna take the 3rd Survival Series event class
