crower cam camshaft skunk2 zex
i searched and all i could find was "what's the best cam?" but here's my q.
1. crower makes 2 different cams for turbo and n/a application. what makes one works better on turbo engine and the other works better on n/a?
2. why dont skunk2 or zex makes 2 different cams for 2 different application? and what application skunk2 and zex cams works better, turbo or n/a?
3. what's your favorite cam, performace, price, ect., and what's the reason for it?
thanks for answers.

Well Skunk2 is "suppose" to make a turbo app cam...but they probably never will.
Basically you want to avoid overlap in boosted aplications for the most part. So what you do is you can still benefit from higher lift cams in a boosted car, but much less duration then say a camshaft designed for n/a to minimize overlap of the valves.
The new Buddy Clubs look promising. Peronsally I've always been a fan of TODA's and people have made the Skunk2's a proven choice and good for the $.

well, i am going to suppose you are talking about d-series motors.
crower makes a stage 2 cam for NA apps, and also a stage 2 turbo cam... the turbo cam would be better for a boosted app (duh)
the zex/comp stage 2 is a high lift/low duration/low overlap cam that will work well on either NA or boosted applications.
and i have no idea about the skunk cam

the zex stage 2, 59300 is supposed to make good power on turbo applications. i would probably run either that or crower st2 turbo in a turbo d...

From every cam break i have seen crower pays for what you **** up, this is how rumors get started yes it has happened but not near as much as people say,
you don't want duration for turbo i say stick with stock anyway just my opinion too much money without getting huge gains out of it.

so to sum up
turbo cam - higher lift
NA cam - less duration
am i right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
well.... a good NA camshaft has a good bit of duration, along with a good amount of overlap.
the zex cam has high lift with less duration, and almost no overlap... the extra lift and low overlap makes it good for turbo, while the high lift and extra duration makes it good for NA... it is basically a dual-purpose cam--good for both NA and turbo apps, though not particularly excelling in either category.
and about the problems with crower cams.... the only problems that have seemed to arise with their cams were with their DOHC cams, not their SOHC.

You know it's true I have too heard bad things about crower cams but if it's like anything else in the news you never hear really about how when something works but the sec one or two or however many do go bad thats all you ever hear about. I bet crower makes a good cam but it is true that we on honda-tech never hear much about any other cams breaking like the crower ones. But I'm sure you know too that a shitty mechanic that doesn't pay good attention to detail ( like torque specs, cam lube, and etc.) could cause a horrible thing like cam failure. Something to remember and think about.
