b18a vs b18b (Short Block Differences )
OK, here is all my questions. I am not sure if I am touching base on anything covered priorly, but I assure you I have searched fro a long time now.
I am curious what all, *every* difference is between the b18a and the b18b short blocks.
From what all I have been told depending on the obd of the short block, there is a sensor going to the water pump area, the oil pump is slightly different, and their is a nock sensor.
These are all very important questions for me because I am ust finishing my build and am thining I want to use the b18b shorty instead. I want the noc sensor the obd1 has to offer, as I am switching to the obdI harness.
Any info you can offer would greatly help.
Also, another reason for my possible change in short block is I amy be moving the engine into a 94+ chassis.

they are botht he exact same mechanically. electrically, the newer ones have more sensors.

haha, ok smart ***. My bad; No need to get all cocky and correct my late-night ability to follow grammer
So, what sensors would be different? Can I put a b18a in a 94+ chasis, or will there be sensors etc with no place to go?

9:30 here, and that is late night for someone who has children
And yes, smart-***, you could have simply said, "aww, my bad; perhaps I did not convey my point better, I meant the mechanical factors are identical. Some of the sensors may not be useable on the b18a though."
Just a thought

I have been surfing this as well as many other honda boards for a long time. Far from newb.
As for me getting mad, I was never bad, I just cannot understand why some silly jerk would get all cocky over my overlooking a period and not understanding the point you where aiming to make.
Nut, if it mes you feel better, then so be it. I missed a period and have now receeded into a 4th grade education bracet.
If anyone else would care to offer an intelligent responce that might assist in my quest for info, please do so.

um to answer the question, the difference in short blocks electrically-
B18A shortblock will have temp fan switch located on the back of the block, it has a green plug with two gold prongs sticking out of it. It has a black rubber boot with two wires that connects to it.
The OBD-1 fan switch 92+ is located on the water neck instead of on the back of the block. Take the water neck off any 92+ integra and ur good to go.

Than you for a helpful reply! That helps a ton.
I can use one of my older 90-91 ls blocs instead of tracing down a b18b just for piece of mind
Are you 1% sure?

yes I am sure.
The bottom end is exactly the same.
The only other difference is on USDM 96+ B18B motors there is a Crank Angle Flux sensor which is located on the oil pump.
Mechanically the bottom ends are all the same though.
SO yes, your 90-91 B18A will work just fine

What are you some kind of a grammar ****? lol
(F.Y.I. If you would have capitalized the begining of your sentences, perhaps it would have emphasized the begining of a new sentence. Rather than causing my oversight of a fourth grade punctuation.)
Never-the-less, I appreciate everyones assistance on this matter.
