Yeah, that **** happens to me too and I hate it. I have resorted to pushing on the window to close the door. The downside to that is I leave fingerprints on them. I've noticed that cars in Toronto have this rubber stick hanging down in the backs of their cars. I think the purpose of this is to ground the car. Don't know for sure...

My suspicion is that it is due to low humidity. Try using one of the anti-static products for clothing like StaticGuard on your seats.

Either that or rub some Bounce/Downy sheets on your seats - hey it works on my cats!

Don't wear blue jeans or other cotton/wool pants b/c that contributes to the static charge. Try wearing pants made of leather or Naugahyde.

yup,

My third Teg and second R and all of them do that to me every now and then. Especially when it's dry out and during winter time.

Wear rubber gloves!

Yea, that **** has been getting me too. I normally open the door, then put my hands on the body of the car. Next I keep my hands on the car and place my feet on the ground. Then I stand up and shut the door. It might sound stupid but it works everytime.

Yep.. I do the same thing.. Just remember to keep your hand on any metal part of the car before your foot hits the ground.

It's most likely your tires not the seats. I use to give toll both workers hell when I would hand them my money.

Haha, yeah, happens to all of us. I believe it due to your butt rubbing against the cloth seat when getting out and depending how suitable the weather is to permit static electricity, you'll get shocked. The best solution that I've come up with is using a metal key to touch the key hole after you get out. So far, I don't feel the pain no more. If the charge is high, a bolt of electricity will shoot out when your key approaches the key hole, but still no pain.
