Default Speedometer not working??

last night i changed my trans fluid and now my speedo isn't working. i got home and double checked... and the vss harness was plugged in. however, i unplugged it and plugged it back in.
is there something else that could cause this? is it possible to not put the vss itself into the trans correctly? any help is appreciated.

thank you

does the gear line up somehow in there? will it not go in if the gear isn't lined up?

this would probably be the reason for my cel light as well huh?

i also soldered my a/f guage in yesterday, but i had it hooked up, just not soldered before and my speedo worked fine. think that could have messes with anything?

well, its obviously something to do with the vss, recheck the connections and make sure the sensor is all the way in the tranny; it kinda clicks into place

99% of speedo issues are VSS connector related

the vtec will not work because your speedo's broke. i think the ecu cant read it so it doesn't think that your car is actually going anywhere.
check your
vss fuse
ground on the tranny

check #24 fuse
check connector:
black=ground
bl/yell= battery power (ignition on)
orange= 5v (ig on)

When you took out the sensor, did you only take the vss out as a whole or did it come apart?If it came apart maybe you didnt put the drive link in the right position

also, the day i changed my trans fluid, i installed an af guage. i dont have a dmm right now, but i did check the conector and cleaned out the electrical connection. still confused as to why this isnt working. hopefully tomorrow i can check the voltages.

how do i ensure that the drive link is in the right position?

also check your wiring when you installed your guage, if i remember right there's a wire that goes from the a/f guage to the o2 wire. check that wire for any shorts to ground, that o2 wire will also through your speedo out of whack.
the fuse your looking for is in your fuse box inside of the car under the dash. it's the fourth one (i think) from the right in the second row. i think it's a 7.5 amp fuse. i would go check in my car but it's to cold outside.

bump

i disconnected the a/f guage and checked all the underdash fuses and the speedo is still not working.

if i were to check the voltages running into the vss and they were/ one wqas off, what would i do to fix thatr.

also, i checked all the pins on the vss and none of them were broken or bent.

anyone have any other ideas?

So why did you have the VSS out to change tranny fluid in the first place?

to get the new fluid in. i dont have one of those bent tube to pump it into the filler hole, and it is tough to tilt my car on the side to fill in through the fill hole

Actually, putting your car on the side is the WRONG way to do it, depending on which way you lean the car, the tranny will be very under or over filled.

The best way to fill it through the fill hole is to use a long funnel with a 90 degree bend at the bottom. (like a copper elbow) This allows you to fill it from up above while having the car level so that it is at the proper level.

I have yet to try a suction pump that doesn't make a big mess of everything, and I REALLY hate getting oil on my shop floor.
